Travman 6 #3 January 13, 2006 Because it is at a higher latitude and the curvature of the earth affects the way the FF's fall I'll be interested to hear what the real answer is. Is this at most DZ's in England?
vt1977 0 #4 January 13, 2006 Quote but in England FF go before RW ....... That's not the case everywhere in England!!! Different DZs have different rules on exit order. Vicki
Scoop 0 #5 January 13, 2006 FF go before RW at ours (UK)
vt1977 0 #6 January 13, 2006 Nethers (also England) - FF go after FS. Vicki
rsibbald 0 #7 January 13, 2006 The majority of places in the UK are RW before FF. I don't jump at the places that do the opposite.
Zoter 0 #8 January 13, 2006 Doesnt Langer Go FF before RW?? Most places I have been to have RW before FF Kellands explanation is about the most understandable that I have seen/read..... Now ....Tandems going first at Empuria.......hmmm there is a logical reason, but it still doesnt look right !!
Adriandavies 0 #9 January 13, 2006 I've heard Milko (AFF instructor, TI, all round good guy at Langar) discussing the merits of both strategies. I'm sure he said that when FF first started they weren't sure what to do with exit order so they sent them out first which is an order which has kind of stuck. He can see the merits of both orders so maybe one day it will change at Langar.
johnny1488 1 #10 January 13, 2006 When you say the merits of both orders, what is the merit of FF out first? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
billvon 2,918 #11 January 13, 2006 >what is the merit of FF out first? If the FFers all pull low, and the RWers all pull higher, and no one has a long snivel or cutaway, and no one loses track of altitude, then you get vertical separation. Since the above are often not true it is an unreliable means of ensuring separation.
johnny1488 1 #12 January 13, 2006 hmmm, if this and this, and if that and that, then you might have the seperation you don't need. How about horizontal seperation. It shouldnt be that hard to see that is what we want. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
billvon 2,918 #13 January 13, 2006 >How about horizontal seperation. It shouldnt be that hard to see that is what we want. Exactly. Which is why RW gets out first in most places.
CrazyL 0 #14 January 14, 2006 >If the FFers all pull low, and the RWers all pull higher,*** QuoteBut Bill in real life RW's break off lower and generally pull lower than FF. What separation? Oh ya I learned that the hard way long ago. I also learned that as long as a FF is open under 3,500 ft and is flying under canopy directly under the center of an 8 way RW in freefall. The 8way would miss the FF'rs open canopy, resulting in a spectacular show for the FF'er!
