JoeWeber 2,645 #1 Posted September 27 This is real: “If you or someone you know chose not to evacuate, PLEASE write your name, birthday and important information on your arm or leg in A PERMANENT MARKER so that you can be identified and family notified,” the Taylor County Sheriff's Office wrote in a social media statement. Morbid? Not in my opinion. In my opinion it's what should be told everyone in the path of natural disasters.

Went through 2 blows back in the early 60s ( I was maybe 4 or 5). We stayed. Scared the cfap out of 4.5 year old me. Wind blowing so hard water was streaming down the walls beneath the windows. Eye of one storm passed over us. Freaky

Freaky I’ve seen a few pictures and updates from friends in the area. It’s really awful to see the destruction and chaos it caused.

Jerry Baumchen Yes, sounds like it’s been a rough time but they are ok. From what I saw last they should have water and electricity soon.
headoverheels 330 #10 October 3 (edited) My cousin ~30 miles east of Asheville just got electricity back on this afternoon. She says she is "sad beyond belief." I think her place is okay, but a neighbor lost their house. Two cousins ~20 miles north of Asheville are still out. Interstate 40 west of Asheville is closed, and is saying 2028 to re-open. Interstate north of Asheville estimating March 2025 to re-open. A fourth cousin tells us that there are something like 460 roads and 234 bridges gone.
