Trump wins immunity

Clearly there are flaws in the Constitution that no-one realised until Trump & Co exposed and exploited them.

It's like a metastable physical system that appears to be perfectly stable and running well  until one particular trigger sets off a major instability.

The USSC gave Biden the tools to fix this mess. Too bad he's not up to that, either. It'll be vote for me and if I win.......

o what is left that might qualify as "high crimes and misdemeanors"?  With this decision, the SC effectively neutered the possibility of impeaching and convicting a President as well.  The President is now indeed our King.  The founding fathers must be spinning in their graves.

Don. it says, "The Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have at least some immunity from criminal prosecution for “official acts” in office, no matter their “politics, policy, or party,” but stipulated that that protection doesn't cover everything.

I read that to mean if a Democrat gets or remains in office.

You’re putting lipstick on a pig. This morning you woke up to day one of America being an autocracy. From my perch the only way back starts with Biden refusing the nomination and using his new powers to keep Trump in a can. Were I him, now, I’d also demand Kamala’s resignation and put a good Dem in that chair and give her the AG slot with orders to make shit happen and fast. Or go home.

If everyone who hates this SC decision were to mail each justice who voted for it a pair of MAGA embroidered knee pads, I wonder if they would get the message.  Also an inflatable Trump doll and a "bag of dicks" might be appropriate.

Better would be a march on Washington demanding that Biden not accept the nomination so he can spend the next 4 months test driving our new autocracy.

Hi Joe,

Don't tell us; tell the White House.  I posted the phone number.

Jerry,

From page 18 of the decision, attached, "In dividing official from unofficial conduct, courts may not inquire into the President’s motives."

This is the crux of it really. It makes selling pardons impossible to prosecute for instance. Trump is going to make an absolute fortune in his next term.

Now that Merchan is tossing in the towel, unless there really is a "Dark Brandon" who will do what's right I, and many, many like me, will do what we did after 2016 and say fuck it.

Indeed. Unless our wishful thinkers get it in mind that there are no practical limits on Presidential power anymore the game is up. Trumps dynasty will continue until there is another coup. As I see it, only Biden can fix this but he'll need to get dirty hands and quit believing what is no longer true. If he won't step away from the nomination then, yes, he should resign. Maybe we'll get lucky and Kamala will do what is right. It isn't Sunday anymore, the facts have changed.

Fine, we gave you Canada, what's another day.

Actually Canada won a war against the US in 1812. But as a open friendly type country they likely wouldn't mind if Americans celebrated that as well. Y'all can bring some bourbon and I'm sure they will provide some rye whiskey.

Hi Joe,

It's only about 5 minutes of your life to call the White House.

You will make more happen with that 5 minutes than 153 hrs posting on here.

Canada was not really a nation then, just a colony. In reality it was mother England and some of her native allies who taught them a lesson in politeness back then.

And tell them what? That I think Biden is a namby panby who will fill his depends before saying shit even with a mouth full? If they can't sort it out now without help we are fucked. The more I think about it the more I'm of the mind to go back to my 2016 game plan of not caring. I can take care of me and mine, my staff and my jumpers. Probably I'll pay less taxes and have less regulatory hassle.

Well, the idea that there is still time for letter writing and intense deploring seems worn out to me. The Mandarins need to see that only using the SC decision in icky, never before considered ways, and doing it like right now has possibilities. Swords need to be fallen on, heroes need to ride through the darkness. If they do not anyone who thinks Trump won't is a damn fool.
