Who will replace Biden?

Replaced by gender studies.

These Countries Have the Most Well-Developed Public Education Systems The Nordic countries ranking top and the US ranking #16.

You're hero Trump will fix all that come January because after all he loves the poorly educated. At least American children will learn more about Jebus. Currently the US spends 38% more on elementary and secondary education than the OECD average. College spending was double the average.

Unfortunately this spending can't overcome FOX news and GOP propaganda. Oh well, the US will have Orban and Erdoğan as kindred friends come 2025. Orban is visting Trump in the next couple days in Florida. Fresh off his visit to Putin. Perhaps Putin will have sent some personal gifts for Trump.

I’m witnessing a case of mass hysterical amnesia. You guys are forgetting that we survived the first Trump presidency and we will survive the second. This talk about “THE END OF DEMOCRACY!!!”  Is just hyperbolic campaign rhetoric, nothing more.

Forget somebody was shot while a mass of people was trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power?

Forget Trump tried to pull all troops out of Europe?

The first time he was ill prepared, didn't know what a President could or could not do and wasn't organized.

That will all be different in a potential second term, bolstered by being told he will be immune from pretty much any action.

You really think he won't be selling pardons, you really think he won't get DOJ to go after political rivals? I mean he has said what he will do, none of that gives you any pause?

Jerry, this one's tough. I cannot imagine living in the reality of the death of democracy.

At least if someone else takes the ticket, you'll get your money back.

I don't think the world understands what happens if Trump gets in.

My social security is actually rather nice.....while it still exists.

Maybe it is time to visit Oren!

Hi Mark,

This!  Most Americans do not know that Soc Sec can go away, be changed, etc, with a single swipe of a signature.  If I remember, correctly, it is Mitch McConnell who is the strongest proponent of radical changes to SS.

As I have said before, if the GOP gets the Senate, there is nothing to stop them.

I don’t think you have a choice but to change him if America is going to recover.

Biden needs to actively support and promote someone. Sadly I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Hi Nigel,

I was just reading where Hakeen Jeffries met with Biden last nite.

It will be a tough battle; but, it can be done.

I'm now thinking that if Biden does not step aside, there is a good possibility of a revolt during the DNC convention.

One Congress Critter is currently suggesting that Biden resign now.

Where is Trump? He’s doing what is smart. You don’t attack an enemy who is attacking themselves. Just saying.

Hi Joe,

We all know that Trump cannot keep his mouth shut.

However, IMO the best thing he can do to help his campaign is to keep quiet.  I'm thinking this is what his people are telling now.

Hell, Joe Biden is the best thing to happen to the Trump campaign.

Morning, Jerry

How would you feel if Biden replaced VP Harris with Gov. Wes Moore?

Keith

Hi Keith,

IMO as long as Biden is on the ticket, it is a disaster.

Last nite I was thinking of a Harris/Moore ticket; might just be a winning combination.

I'm not a Harris fan; but, it does look like the country likes her.

Much of the rest of the world does.

China and Russia are basically salivating about it.

I've read stories that indicate that some of our NATO allies are making preparations for a future without the US. And are starting to reduce what they share with US intelligence.

So yeah, they understand.

It's so many in the US who don't understand.
Or don't care.

Hi Joe,

Well put.  I have been reading that many leaders of European countries are now thinking of another Trump admin & how to deal with it/him.

Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House when Trump got elected, bought a book on how to deal with narcissist personalities.  He then retired soon after.

As I have been saying for years:  The average American voter is uninformed & prefers to stay that way.

Afternoon, Jerry

That doesn't appear to be the case. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/approval/kamala-harris/

My thought process was Biden sounds as if he's determined to run. Most (as on here) will vote for him again, but if sumpin happens; Moore gets the P seat.

BTW: Wes Moore wrote a book - The Other Wes Moore. Gives quite an insight into him.

Too late for someone too unknown. Most people won't read an email for comprehension much less a must read a book about a potential VP candidate. I'm back on the Biden train because no one has convinced me of a viable path to someone else and the clock is ticking, as ever.

Hi Keith,

Re:  That doesn't appear to be the case.

I can only say that the polls I've seen in the last two days show her beating Trump.

Re:  My thought process was Biden sounds as if he's determined to run.

My thinking is that only the down-ballot people are the ones to stop him.  IMO they are very worried that he will take them down with him.

Re:  Wes Moore wrote a book

To the best of my knowledge, I have never read a book written by a politician; too self-serving IMO.

I watched the "Press Conference" last night.  I noticed that there were teleprompters, Biden reading the reporters names and calling on them, the reporters were reading their questions and Biden was looking down a lot.  Was this a real press conference or was it staged to look like one.

Nobody knew Obama until about 8 minutes before he was on the ticket - and his life was not as interesting as Moore. But, you guys keep going down this path without disrupting something.

It was staged to keep him from fucking up names (didn't work) and listing his every thought numerically (worked a little). Anyway, for me no biggie. I'd be happy if the ghost of Christmas past was horse whispering to him through earbuds if that got it done.

Different headwinds. Besides, even if Moore was an incredible delight at parties, always volunteered for the base, and just loved buying a round he is still the wrong color to be Harris' wingman. The nation would much prefer an orange fraud and felon or a doddering old fool than two people of color on a presidential ticket with a female at the top. If no one else has noticed, let me help: this nation is going in societal acceptance reverse. DEI is a pejorative term, ask Brent, but then I know you know that.

That is a GOOD thing for an unknown.  Trump won't have as much time to come up with his usual spate of lies, and FOX News won't have time to spin up a conspiracy over a laptop or her emails.

As usual your insight is invaluable. Does anyone truly want to know who they're voting for? Probably not, I guess.

For sure Biden would get a lot of votes. But quite a few people will just stay home. And as I’m sure you recall Trump nearly beat him last time around.

Sometime after we stopped teachng physics.

A jumper from here who spends a lot of time in the US and is a school teacher believes that the US school system has never taught critical thinking skills. He made that comment at least 10 years ago. I forget the full context of the conversation, but he also talked about the nature of news in the US versus most of the Western World.

Hi Nigel,

I will never forget an episode of THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JOHNNY CARSON, about 40 yrs ago.  His guest was a notable academic, who had written a book called WHY JOHNNY CANNOT READ.  Yup, Carson looked right into the camera with that famous deadpan look of his.

It was classic Carson.
