Trump inherited a good economy and made it better, a black swan event set us back, but by the time Biden took over, the economy was growing and folks were going back to work. (If you Google “last recession” the COVID downturn doesn’t register as a recession)

Biden and the Ds took a quickly recovering economy and put it on meth, causing massive inflation and hurting millions of folks.

Trump inherited a good economy and pushed it into recession; we saw deflation as people stopped being able to buy things.

Biden inherited Trump's mess and passed several bills to fix it.  Which they did.  The economy has now recovered, inflation is down, unemployment is at record lows (lower than when Trump was in office) and the stock market is surging.

Yeah, I know, Trump says everyone is about to starve to death because evil Kamala sold all our children to Russia and marxism blah blah.  If you really believe what Trump says, you must be an easy mark at the local garage.  "Oh yeah that last service guy totally trashed your, uh, Shockley drive.  You need a new one.  That will be $12,000 and it's all his fault; blame him if you're upset about it.  I'm just a hardworking mechanic trying to get you back on the road without overcharging you like he would!  Trust me."

'the black swan event' is a shitty excuse used constantly by the right wing to apologize for a dumpster fire response to a pandemic.  The USA has worse outcomes than many leading countries, 1 million people died, store shelves were empty, the stock market crashed, the debt went through the roof (not just because of covid but reckless spending and tax cuts), the supply chain was fucking obliterated.... and trump said stupid things like 'who knew there could be a world-wide pandemic?'

Inflation is now back to normal.  gas prices at $277 in Florida, my net worth is double what it was four years ago, stocks and retirement portfolios are way up, unemployment is down, and if you cannot figure out how to make it in THIS economy, well that is your problem.   - thank you Joe Biden

What recession? I googled “last recession” and the Trump recession is curiously missing. The last recession was from December 2007 through June 2009.

Not from my Google it isn't. You can lie about the facts all you want but you're not likely to fool anyone who lives in reality.

Indeed.  The first hit when I Google "last recession" is below.

In his defense, if the only thing you ever search for on Google is "bad stuff about Harris" then the algorithm will, over time, give you only results that are bad for Harris.

Yeah, how about the NBER saying it was a recession? That's not a rhetorical question, BTW, I would actually like to hear your answer.

The NBER's definition emphasizes that a recession involves a significant decline in economic activity that is spread across the economy and lasts more than a few months. In our interpretation of this definition, we treat the three criteria—depth, diffusion, and duration—as somewhat interchangeable. That is, while each criterion needs to be met individually to some degree, extreme conditions revealed by one criterion may partially offset weaker indications from another. For example, in the case of the February 2020 peak in economic activity, the committee concluded that the subsequent drop in activity had been so great and so widely diffused throughout the economy that, even if it proved to be quite brief, the downturn should be classified as a recession.

Thanks for that proof that the economy was not in recession at the end Trump’s term. I’m waiting for BillV to admit he was wrong

I never said it was at the end of Trump's term.  I said Trump pushed the country into a recession.

You really do have to learn to read before responding.

BillV didn't say that, you're lying. Just like you lied about Google saying there was no Trump recession, just like you lied about NBER saying there was no Trump recession, just like you lied about not being able to make up your own facts.

Then he pulled the country out of recession. If anyone were to blame for the recession it was largely Democrat governors who shut down their states. Close California, New York, Illinois, Michigan and California, it guarantees a recession.

How did he pull the country out of recession? Isn't it Democrat governors re-opening their states who get the credit?

5 (ahem) Democrat states are so important important they control the  economy of the entire country? Well that's one way to prove that Republicans are better with money, I suppose.

Also nice to know you're not being serious when you talk about people fleeing the California economy, obviously you think it's really twice as good as anyone else's.

you seem to be hung up on the word 'recession', when the economy actually fucking collapsed under Trump, trillions were lost, unemployment went to double digits, store shelves were empty and the stock market crashed.

So continue to banter about whether or not it was a recession or not, but is was an economic catastrophe that happened WHILE DONALD TRUMP WAS IN OFFICE, during his administration and absolutely 100% his responsibility to deal with.

Biden did indeed pull the country out of Trump's recession.

Only one state did not have any shutdowns.  The other 49 - democrat and republican alike - had shutdowns.

Those pesky facts again!

Weeks vs months, and one needs to account for GDP. Shut down Idaho for a year and it won’t make a blip Shut down California, different story
