JoeWeber 2,625 #1 Posted June 9, 2023 CNN reports that Trump was indicted on 7 counts. Thoughts and prayers, of course.
Phil1111 1,101 #2 June 9, 2023 Sounds like a couple ounces of 21 year old El Dorado is warranted. Or in my case a couple ounces of Kirkland Signature Original Spiced Rum. I have to go easy because there is still Georgia election fixing, the hush money, the capital riots. etc, etc.

Phil1111 1,101 #6 June 9, 2023 I hate to rain on the parade. But as everyone here knows, the first republican president will pardon trump's convictions. Then immediately receive the benefit of a 30% base vote and all that fundraising cash from that same base. The whole world will immediately think how corrupt the US is. Putin, China, India, Pakistan, etc. etc. will use the pardon in their anti US propaganda. I told you so all around from all those governments and media sources. Two observations:1.If he is tried in Florida then a conviction is surely not a foregone conclusion. 2.Almost none of the MAGA reaction that I have seen claim that he is innocent. They all blame Biden, Democrat weaponisation of the DOJ etc., but no one says he is innocent.

Perhaps, but if it keeps him too busy to return to office it's worth it. Whatever it takes to drive a stake through his political heart has my blessing. He's almost as old as Biden, so we only need to keep him tied up to run out the clock. Both of them were unfit for office at any stage of their careers, but being geriatrics should further disqualify them. The next crop on either side of the aisle demonstrates the principle that the scum rises to the top, but having someone with better shelf life is still preferable. At least I haven't heard reference to him tweeting anything recently.

No matter, so I can locate the goal posts, who would you offer up as fit for office and who served reasonably well?

It is a dark day and whatever happens, I don't think the fall out is yet well understood. And if it is true that Aileen Cannon is presiding over this case, that is going to make it even worse.

I know it isn't, because we don't know what the evidence is. What we do know is that the indictments happened. If the evidence is very strong, that is a problem. If the evidence is very flimsy, that is a problem. If AC acts like she did in her earlier rulings, that is a problem for the faith in the judiciary. Both could have pretty disastrous consequences for the future of the USA as a nation and its place in the world. Neither is good.

For all the crimes trump has got away with. For his efforts to degrade the department of justice, obstruct justice.. Ridicule and politicize justice. For his stonewalling of parties with matters before the courts and those he outlasted. Celebration is entirely appropriate. VP Pence had the nerve, the gall, to suggest today that the department of justice should have "worked it out" with trump. Sure just like the laws work for everyone else. If its all a witch hunt trump will be found innocent. He is using donated cash to pay for his lawyers and will likely make a net profit from excess donations. Nobody in the department of justice is investigating the $2 billion loan that the Saudi's gave to Jared. But its a celebration non the less so we'll have to disagree. billvon 2,782 #16 June 9, 2023 One of Trump's arguments has been that sure, he had classified info, but he was allowed to have it and he kept it confidential so what's the big deal? In the indictment (unsealed today) it listed all the places that Trump stored that confidential information, including: "a ballroom, a bathroom and shower, an office space, his bedroom, and a storage room.” So one, it's going to be pretty funny to see Trump's lawyers defending his secure shower. And two, ew - I am hoping people wear gloves when they go through the recovered documents.

How in the hell do controlled documents get out of reach. There are so many controls and protocols it's not funny.
JerryBaumchen 1,312 #19 June 9, 2023 Hi folks, And, the Trump rats continue to leave the ship: Trump loses two lawyers just hours after 2nd indictment - POLITICO I'm thinking that they value their law careers too much to get tarnished by staying with Trump. As I have posted before: In June 1963 I was standing at the Berlin Wall. At that time, I was very sure that one day it would be gone. I did not expect it in my lifetime. I feel the same way about the GOP & Trump. While I doubt that I will live to see it, I am hopeful that the day will come when the GOP realizes that Trump was a disaster for them & for this country. I think it was from the first 2001 book, where Arthur C Clarke said something along the lines of "any system can be made safe from user error or malfunction, but no system can be made safe from deliberate malice." And when you are the president, and have the power to fire anyone who opposes your wishes, those systems don't work as well.
billvon 2,782 #21 June 9, 2023 This is fun. Tweet from Rep Clay Higgins: ============= President Trump said he has "been summonned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM." This is a perimeter probe from the oppressors. Hold. rPOTUS has this. Buckle up. 1/50K know your bridges. Rock steady calm. That is all. ============= 1/50K is a reference to military topographic maps. rPOTUS means "real president." Looks like a few Trumpies are hoping for another Jan 6th. I wonder what Q has to say about all this.

It is same way he bullied himself into the middle during the GOP debates in 2015-2016. According to procedure, they were supposed to be standing in alphabetical order. Trump would be off to the right as we viewed things. He would not accept this; and, simply bullied his way into the center. People simply acquiesced to the bully. Far too many voters were willing to elect such a person to the highest office in the land despite reams of evidence that he is an unscrupulous businessman, a sexual predator, and an unrepentant narcissist who warmly embraces authoritarianism. We all knew who Trump was, and millions of people voted for him anyway. He drove six companies into bankruptcy and has at least 13 failed businesses. He swindled hundreds and hundreds of independent contractors and small businesses out of millions of dollars by refusing to pay them for work they did for his projects. He set up a fake university that ripped off students for millions of dollars; courts ordered him to pay $25 million to 7,000 of those students. He set up a fake foundation with his three oldest children that funneled other people's money to his businesses and political campaign and that he used to buy gifts for himself; a court ordered him to dissolve the foundation and pay $2 million to eight charities. And then there's the pussy grabbing. Yet he's the GOP front runner for 2024. I don't understand it. Maybe Bigun, BillE or Airdvr can explain it.
