Phil1111 691 #27 Monday at 01:17 PM Are there any of the announced hopefuls old school republicans? News coverage certainly never covers them. i.e. conservatives without the populism.

That'd be the kiss of death for too many people who kind of like Trump but think he's gone too far, or who have a lot of Trumpist friends they hang out with. Better to keep people in doubt at this time, unfortunately. Wendy P.

wmw999 1,720 #31 Monday at 03:36 PM I think liberals have tax cheats, too. Along with a lot of the other. OTOH, we’re not proud of it, and we try not to double down on any of those. So maybe it’s the party of proud grifters, polluters, bigots, tax cheats, racists, science deniers, book burners and the poorly educated. Wendy P. The IRS is badly understaffed and cutting its funding, a GOP priority, is a gift to tax cheats. Currently, the tax gap, which is the amount in taxes that are owed but not paid, comes to nearly $700 Billion a year. 60% of the tax gap is due to underreporting of income by the top 10% of taxpayers, and more than a quarter comes from the top 1%. But the IRS has been left without the resources to hire and support agents who can catch wealthy tax cheats. The audit of (known cheat) Trump was staffed by exactly one IRS agent.. Audits of millionaires have dropped 61% in less than a decade. For those making more than $5 million, the audit rate has dropped 87%.

Did I miss any group? Nazis & KKK. Admittedly, they fall under 'bigots', 'racists', 'book burners' and 'the poorly educated'. But they're their own group of 'very fine people'. This^^^ its shameful to think a national party wants the entire tax system to be crippled while claiming the deficit is important. But then again they put their lackeys on the USSC. So I guess its all perspective.
