Credit Suisse used to be the bank of choice for Putin, drug dealers, dictator autocrats, etc. Credit Suisse violated 2014 U.S. tax evasion deal, Senate committee finds from yesterday.

Of course Switzerland loves to play the violin suggesting that its neutral, impartial and honest with its dealings in the world. They have refused to supply arms to Ukraine to show its impartiality.

Today: So now its integrity has been shown again " Four bankers have been convicted of failing to conduct due diligence on Swiss accounts that were opened in the name of a musician with close ties to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and used to make deposits worth tens of millions of dollars....Their sentences? "A court in Zurich on Thursday handed the four bankers, including three Russian and one Swiss citizen, suspended seven-month jail sentences with two years’ probation. " The money involved was over $50 million in one account alone.

So while the western world makes sacrifices to the rule of law. The Swiss line their pockets at the expense of rule abiding countries.

Just because the country is neutral doesn't mean all the companies within a country are neutral.

Switzerland made out like gang busters in WW2, and after by helping re-locate Nazis.  It facilitates money laundering and tax evasion.  For a place that claims to be "holier than thou" it's pretty despicable.

Yes, the Swiss have long played to role of being a safe and comfortable place for the dirtiest of thieves thugs and despots to hide their wealth. They aren’t welcome to live there, but their money can stay as long as it needs to.
