Heroes of the anti-woke

Recommended Posts

"Anti-woke" is the latest meme that conservatives are using to describe their heroic battles against . . . awareness of injustice.  No doubt revisionists everywhere are trying to define being woke as hating babies or some such, but that, of course, is simple sophistry.

Being woke is being alert to injustice in society.  It applies to all injustice, but especially racial injustice.  There are surely woke people today, as there have been throughout history.  Some of those people have even become woke heroes. Martin Luther King.  Harvey Milk.  Nelson Mandela.  Jimmy Carter.  All aware of the injustice in the world, and all working to bring awareness to that injustice, and to reduce it.  We are better off for their efforts.

We, of course, have a great number of non-woke people out there today as well.  People who are sure that there is no injustice in society, and that any attempt to correct it is evil socialism or "woke madness."  People who are either simply ignorant of it, or who work hard to not understand it, lest they think less of their own accomplishments.  Such people believe that if there is injustice against someone other than them, it lessens them, and reduces their sought-after status as victim.

We also have the anti-woke - people who are actively working to disguise and promulgate these injustices.  This takes the form of everything from race-baiting to active denial to revisionist history to actually fostering and committing those injustices.  There is a long history of that in this country from the 1700's well into present day.  I won't bother with examples; they are too numerous to mention.

Instead I'll use this thread as a way to call out the heroes of the anti-woke - those people dedicated to hiding and even promulgating those injustices in society that apparently don't exist for some people.

The first one up is the anonymous meme-maker who created a false meme, where a "parent" of one of the recently slain schoolchildren purportedly vowed "to fight with every fiber of my being for the end of the trans evil."  This meme is intended to promulgate hatred against trans people.  For using this tragedy to push their anti-woke agenda, this meme creator wins today's "Hero of the Anti-Woke" award.

I suspect people who object to "Black Lives Matter" are subconsciously (or intentionally) adding in a word that isn't there, they think it means "Only Black Lives Matter".  Of course that isn't what the expression says, or means.  It does not mean "white lives don't matter", or "blue lives don't matter", or any other group of people anyone might care to reference.  It isn't necessary to state "white lives matter" or "blue lives matter" because they have always mattered, at least in the US.  It is necessary to proclaim that Black Lives Matter, because so much US history has emphatically stated that black lives don't matter.

Today's Hero of the Anti-Woke is Scott Adams, who a few weeks back went on a racist rant on his Youtube channel.

"If nearly half of all Blacks are not okay with white people . . .according to this poll, not according to me, according to this poll . . .that’s a hate group.  I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the fuck away. Wherever you have to go, just get away. Because there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed. You just need to get away from them.  Get as far away from them as you can."

He then does the usual not-a-racist-because-I-name-drop-a-black-guy thing.

"Unfortunately there's a high correlation between the density - this is according to Don Lemon, by the way - so here I'm just quoting Don Lemon - when he notes that when he, when he lived in a mostly black neighborhood there were a lot of problems he didn't see in black neighborhoods.  So even Don Lemon sees a big difference."

And of course if a black man says that he sees problems in his neighborhood, it's the same as calling for segregated housing.

If the goal is equal rights and equal responsibilities, I'm in.

If, however, the focus is one race or another, it's racist.

If the response to George Floyd was to the effect that no citizen should be subjected to such treatment, I'm in.

If it turned out that the perpetrator and victim had worked together, and that the perpetrator viewed the victim is a useless junkie criminal but the crime was attributed to race, that's racist.

If identical violations of rights take place, but only those involving one race or another get any attention at all that's racist.

You get the drift.

So no research into sickle cell disease.

No more cancer research.

None of those result in equal benefits to all races and therefor must be racist.

No you aren't.

Being not white and or not of reasonable economic footing impacts experiences and outcomes. You can't be in favor of having "equal right and equal responsibilities" if you are unwilling to acknowledge those influences, and sometime work to address them.

Is that even a coherent thought? Can you give an example?

Frequency of existing violations explains the focus, not necessarily racism. Lets look at the focus on negative interactions between minorities and law enforcement. Per capita nonwhites are more likely to have interactions with law enforcement, and they are more likely to be the type of interactions that result in the violation of rights.

Getting better funding and training for law enforcement can cause positive interactions for everyone irrespective of color, but the focus isn't on Frappuccino Karen in her Lululemon active wear because she will probably go the whole year driving shitty like everyone else, but she will never get pulled out of her car by police, or be in danger from interactions with them, because she is white her husband is a lawyer and she lives in a very nice neighborhood with high property values and a really high property tax rate.

Today's Heroes are . . . the republican legislators in the Tennessee house.  Today they are voting to expel three lawmakers in the opposite party for being part of an anti-gun protest.  For not caving into gay woke agendas like free speech and protection of children from gun violence, they win today's award as Heroes of the Anti-Woke.

This, a thousand times this. Someone who i can identify with is more likely to be cut some slack, because nobody's perfect. Someone I can't identify with (or just want to scapegoat) is Breaking the law! and must take responsibility and pay the consequences!

Yep.  And in years past it was the shiftless blacks who wanted to defile white women.  Today it's drag queens who are having simulated gay sex with children.  They are safe to go after, because Karen doesn't know any drag queens.

But as for Matt Gaetz, who is actually under investigation for sex trafficking of children?  He looks just like Karen's high school crush Joey Bagodonuts, so he's certainly not the problem.

Hi Bill,

Looks like their popularity is only with themselves:   cheering and chanting outside the House chamber so loudly that the noise drowned out the proceedings

Just to put this into perspective, the following behavior was not cause for expulsion:

  • Sexually abusing teenagers
  • peeing on another member's chair

Hi Bill,

Hopefully, the electorate(s) in each district will do the right thing:  Should all three members be expelled, special elections will be held in the three districts encompassing Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis. Nothing would hold those members back from running again in those races.

Today's hero is this speaker at an Arkansas anti-trans school board meeting.  He gave his opinion on how one should treat trans people:

"God gave them over to a depraved mind so that they do what they should not be doing.  They invent ways of doing evil. But let me remind you that those who do such things deserve death."

So for advocating death for all trans people, this true hero of the anti-woke movement will get his day in the sun here.  Take that, woke loser libs!

Bill, could we have a (dis) honourable mention for the Llano County TX commissioners board? They are bravely trying to close down all their local libraries because a judge has ordered them to return some children's books to the shelves. Books that are promoting woke evil. Better to have no library than an woke one.See the story here:

So would a trans person be able to legally shoot this guy on a 'stand your ground' defense?

Ohhhh. Right.

That's only for conservatives. If a liberal shoots someone in self defense, they often die during the arrest process.

I remember an argument being raised that these evangelical Republicans are nothing like the Taliban because they don't call for the death of homosexuals......

Hi Jerry,

Fun fact.

Both of them were reinstated by their respective local jurisdictions (Nashville Metro Council & Shelby County Commission).

Both votes were unanimous.

In the case of Shelby County, it was because none of the Republican members showed up.

Bunch of fucking cowards.

A pub landlady in Essex has been successfully fundraising for a replacement collection of Golliwog* dolls that she keeps on display at the bar after the police removed them following a complaint of racial harrassment from a black customer. She claims that she's a victim of snowflakes looking for offence and she's definitely not racist, she just likes displaying crass charicatures of black people.

Never mind that her husband has posed for pictures in a Britain First t-shirt, he wasn't showing it off, it just happened to be handy that day. (You know what non-racist people don't tend to have handy? T-Shirts from Fascist political parties)

Never mind that they've shared online pictures of the Golliwogs hung by the neck from the bar and joked about how things used to be in Mississippi, surely anyone with a sense of humour can appreciate that.

Nope, they're just misunderstood and oppressed victims of the radical left.

Didn't know them by that name, but had a pretty good guess.

A quick search confirmed my guess was correct. And found her, too.

Sheesh.

Today's anti-woke hero is . . . again the Tennessee GOP, who were recently overheard talking about the situation amongst themselves.  At issue was one representative (Barrett) who voted against ejecting Gloria Johnson (the only white person protesting.)  Her colleagues told her that she caused them a lot of trouble; they had wanted to eject the white person despite the lack of evidence to derail perceptions of racism.

“Man, you hung us out to dry … This would’ve been bad anyway, but good God … it brought the racism into it because you didn’t stay with us.”

Another was angry that he was being called racist for ejecting the two black representatives who protested.  "I’ve been called a racist, a misogynist, a white supremacist more in the last two months than I have my entire life. And by golly, I’m biting my tongue. And I’m telling you, all due respect, those days are wearing thin right now.”  Poor guy.  It's like you can't even target black people without being called a racist these days.

He then described his dismay that he would have to see this person back in the legislature.  "I’m going to have to swallow this seeing Mr. Jones back up here walking these hallowed halls that the greats of Tennessee stood in. And watch them disrespect this fucking state that I chose to move to. And by golly, it’s got to stop.”

Finally he made a statement that sums up Tennessee republicans perfectly.  “You got to do what’s right, even if you think it’s wrong.” Remember - party before morals.  That principle must be why the Speaker of the Tennessee House doesn't live in the district he represents.  Sure, that's wrong (and against the House's own rules) but you got to do whatever lets you hold on to power.  You got to do what's right, even if it's wrong.
