But I don't think he would fit in there, now that we have just learned even the Fox talking heads aren't dumb enough to believe their own bullshit.

Yeah.  The problem with FOX is that you have to be smart enough to keep the lies straight.  Right aftter the election, one reporter accidentally reported the truth and Hannity immediately called for her firing.

Whereas with politicians, they don't have to keep their lies straight.  Look at George Santos and Andrew Ogle.  They are at zero risk for being fired, and they make good money.

You said that since the word "democracy" doesn't appear in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, that the US was not a democracy.

I said no such thing. You are arguing with a straw man of your own creation.

BTW guns…AKA fireARMS!

I don’t see the word democracy anywhere in the government’s description of itself.

Have a nice day!

Then you can't read.

"While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic."

The "more accurately" means that democracy is "accurate".

That's literally you. The US is a democracy. It is a perfect fit for both the definition of a democracy and for the popular understanding of the word. The US Government source you quoted explaining that the US is a particular type of democracy does not make it not a democracy. You are pushing a semantic argument that is both pedantic and wrong.

This thread within a thread was in response to Wendy when she said

“If your son's school is focusing on the downfalls of democracy, and highlighting being a republic instead”

did you catch that?

democracy INSTEAD of a republic

in·stead
/inˈsted/

adverb

  1. as an alternative or substitute.
"Our government is a Republic instead of a Democracy”

The ‘instead’ in that sentence refers to what the school is focussing on, not what the governmental systems are. Learn to read.

(BTW, even if you are claiming you’re only wrong because you were copying someone else, you’re still wrong.)

Slam Dunk for Brent....LOL...

Hey Brent, the Russian troll who just posted a pro-conspiracy theory meme agrees with everything you just said. Surely you realise that can’t be good?

There might be subtler meanings there, y'know. "Downfalls of democracy" is general, and isn't the same as "downfalls of being a pure democracy." But as long as you get to slam someone you see as a liberal, it's all good, right? The US is neither a pure democracy nor a pure republic. After all, the main distinguishing thing of a republic is that the leader is not royal.

How do the leaders get there? Why, democracy!

Oh please.

There's a fairly big difference between a 'media whore' and a "Russian propagandist".

Media whores will say anything they're paid to.

Russians will say anything Putler tells them to. Because he'll have them thrown out of a 16th story window if they don't.

Marjorie Taylor Greene opines on climate change:

"We live on a spinning planet that rotates around a much bigger sun along with other planets and heavenly bodies rotating around the sun that all create gravitational pull on one another while our galaxy rotates and travels through the universe.  Considering all of that, yes our climate will change, and it’s totally normal!”

So for her, the climate is driven by  . . . extrasolar gravitational forces.

We should make a list of all the things that conservatives blame AGW on.

Galactic gravitational forces
Secret Jewish space lasers
Termites
Volcanoes
Not "raking the forests"
Nestle
Delta smelt
God's punishment for sin

Hi Bill,

I read the first line & went, 'Oh, WTF now.'

I'm sure that this is all probably part of her PHD dissertation in Physics.
