Queer and Climate on NPR

Recommended Posts

Every day on NPR there are stories about queer issues and climate change, (seriously, every single day) I have come to expect that given their lefty leanings, however today they have outdone themselves, featuring a story on a climate change themed drag show on ice. Congratulations NPR you have officially jumped the shark.

Thanks to queer triggered people like you, of course. Queer issues, like climate change issues, are real issues not just for queer folk but for all folk. In the case of queer issues I'm affected only because so much bandwidth needs to be dedicated to trying to normalize for people like you what is obviously already normal: queerness. Queer folk are normal folk. Get over it.

?? Fox News does that all the time.  They regularly have "climate change is a joke" features followed by "drag queens teaching your KIDS!" specials.

For example, only yesterday on FOX News they had a feature titled "Graphic drag show for babies" and another titled "House Democrats' own witness blasted Biden's climate bill for permitting 'climate apocalypse'."

Hearing FOX News supporters ridicule another news organization for reporting on climate change and transgender people is . . . hilarious.  Up next!  Right wingers complain that there is too much about cancel culture in the news, and demand the mainstream media be cancelled as a result.

For all the bitching on this forum about the bias of Fox/Murdoch, none of the the links I've followed hold a candle to NPR for raw prejudice.

Not saying that's a bad thing, mind you; NPR is careful only to speak The Truth (tm), so pretending to be Fair and Balanced (tm) is entirely unnecessary.

I got over it a long time ago (huge Elton John fan) so did everyone who listens to NPR, same with climate change. They are just preaching to the choir, over and over and over and over again.

You are the choir? When it comes to queer issues and climate change? You?

I don’t need my beliefs reinforced, I need them challenged. That is why I listen/watch left wing sources.  Why do you think I post here? It is certainly not for reaffirmation. Regrettably, the preponderance of challenge I receive in this forum is ad hominem.:`(

I was being sarcastic about this, then reality caught up to me in the form of Marjorie Taylor Greene literally demanding a safe space.  Poe's Law strikes again.

Then NPR are not preaching to the choir, are they? Their listenership is you.

Unless you think you are unique among the right in wanting your views to be challenged? If so that is hardly NPR’s fault.

You just need ammunition.

Why do you think I post here?

Some people enjoy attacking other people.  Same reason you see people screaming at waiters at restaurants - it fulfills a basic need in them.

They need to feel smart and powerful. Deep down, they know they aren't, so they overcompensate. Usually against targets that are unable to defend themselves.

It explains a LOT about Trump's popularity.

It seems to me you are partly right; you do need you beliefs challenged but only as a vehicle to reinforce what you believe. As I see it, like other religionists, your beliefs form the core of your identity, hence they are unchangeable no matter the quality of the challenge.

I know SC is full of them.  I share some simple facts or give an opinion and get blasted with ad hominem and vitriol instead of being engaged on the topic presented.  It is amazing just how nasty folks can get when their world view is threatened.

That’s not happening right now though, is it? You’re being engaged on the topic, the opinion is presented has been challenged because you can’t deal with that you’ve just changed the subject and played the victim card.

Really?!?!
Not a single post about the climate change themed drag show on ice. While I was called: queer triggered, overcompensater, religionist, accused of attacking people and somehow FOX news was brought up.

(not that I mind the personal attacks as is says more about the offender than it does me, not to mention I find them highly amusing)

And when challenged on such behavior, cry "I am the victim here!"

There are a lot of right wing people who have become professional victims as of late.  Heck, even George Santos has become a professional victim recently.  He claims:

His house "was vandalized because we were at a Republican party"
He "suffered an attempt on my life, an assassination attempt, a threatening letter"
He  had "to have the police, a police escort standing in front of our house"
He was "going to the garage, getting my car, and I was mugged . . . they robbed me, took my briefcase, took my shoes, and my watch."

That way he can be the victim, instead of all the people he lied to and defrauded.

I am also reminded of a certain poster here who said that as soon as the ACA was passed he had to shut down his business and lay all his hardworking employees off.  He was a victim of Obamacare! and he waved that bloody shirt for all it was worth.

About a month later he forgot that he had shut down his business, and complained about one of his employees mistreating one of the company trucks.

Could you please show me anywhere in BillV’s rambling post anything that remotely has anything to do with the OP? Mind you,I have been banned for thread drift.

(Note to SkyDekker: the post directly below Bill’s response is not mine, it is a quote of a comment from another contributor.  Notice the quotation marks)

I don’t know anything about the climate change themed drag show on ice. Your post isn’t about the climate change themed drag show on ice. You haven’t mentioned anything about it other than that it exists. However, the thing you were actually talking about, NPR, has been discussed at length. Until you changed the subject because it wasn’t going the way you wanted.
