Now we just openly lie and then double down on it when confronted.

That was the thing Trump understood like no-one else. Admit nothing, apologise for nothing, double down on even the craziest falsehoods and people will see it as 'strength'XoX

Some people will.  Fortunately the last election showed that more people see it as venality.  The proportion of the population that is "poorly educated white" is falling.

His portrayal of "strength" was totally undermined by his groveling to Putin at the meeting in Helsinki.

Hi folks,

Looks like he should have stood farther back:  Rhodes, 58, is the first person charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack to be sentenced for seditious conspiracy

Extremist Oath Keepers founder gets longest sentence yet in Jan. 6 attack - oregonlive.com

He's now got 18 yrs to 'Stand back & Stand by.'

Mark another one up for the good guys.

Well in GOP world that could not be the case. There is an election in two years and trump has promised to pardon most if not all of his little storm troopers. He may need them again if further insurrections are necessary. i.e. if he disagrees with USSC rulings.

Till then, chalk one more up for the rule of law in America.
