Why did this happen?

Question

Hello,

I have nearly 400 jumps, I am packing the parachute the same way all the time, never had any problem (with the exception of a few twists) and now this. It's Navigator 240. Any idea how and why did it happen? There was a strong wind that day if that matters (pilot said gusts of 100km/h at the exit altitude). Unfortunately the parachute was picked up by someone else, so no clues during inspection :-(

Stayed with it way too long IMHO

I was aware that I still have time. I just couldn't see what that is.

The best way to prevent step-throughs is to start your 4-line check at the 3-Rings.

Yes, I do, it's weird to me that I would overlook that. But I admit it is possible.
