riggerrob 558 #4 March 14, 2006 Tandem Instructor minimums are almost the same in Canada. 18 years old Minimum 3 years in the sport Minimum 500 jumps on ram-air canopies C or D Certificate (I can't remember which). CSPA Coach 1 Class 3 medical (same as private pilot) Pass an equipment-specific course led by a Tandem Examiner (Jump Shack, Parachutes de France, Relative Workshop, Strong Enterprises, etc.). Also note that some tandem manufacturers (i.e. Strong Enterprises) require you to have survived one malfunction (by yourself). If you have not, then you need to do an intentional cutaway before the TI course. The only significant difference is that CSPA does not have a generic "TI" rating.
