Has anyone been following the GOP's contortions in Arkansas to prevent a reproductive rights initiative from being put to the voters?

Clearly the GOP does not trust the people of the state to decide for themselves.

Pfffft.

They know perfectly well that EVERY reproductive rights referendum that's gone to a vote has passed in favor of women's rights.

Even Ohio and Kansas.

Ohio tried REALLY hard to change the rules so that the level of majority the polls were showing wouldn't be enough.
Didn't work.

we like voting, as long as it goes our way.  The GOP of today.  Everything we have seen since November 2020 confirms this.

Are you sitting down for this? A Trump-appointed judge in Texas is allowing a woman to sue the prosecutors and sheriffs for illegal prosecution over an abortion.

Woman imprisoned for abortion, wrongfully charged with murder, will be allowed to sue prosecutors, sheriffs for $1M

sometimes, in a country of laws, the laws actually works and wins.  Largely why Trump is a convicted felon, a rapist, a fraudman, and a crook.....

But the GOP is still upset about all the rampant crime around the country..... supposedly.

Hi folks,

Missourians will vote this November on whether to legalize abortion.

Missouri Supreme Court puts abortion amendment back on ballot | STLPR

So far, every state that has had an abortion choice on the ballot, it has been a win for abortion rights.

Yet, the GOP continues to tell us that the American people are opposed to abortion rights.

Somebody is full of it,

I just received my FL absentee ballot. There is an amendment to protect abortion rights. For each amendment there is a description that gets added. Here is the text of the amendment and the text of the description. Anyone see anything wrong with this?

Indeed I do! They left out the part about the creation of a Special Night Police charged with door bashing in the wee hours to collect pregnant women for abortion quota fulfillment and that all citizens future social security payments will be docked to pay for it all. Otherwise it looks good to me.

"This amendment may also result in male children being forcibly converted to female, mandatory singing of the Black National Anthem, and immigrants eating your pets.  Due to uncertainties surrounding this law, your taxes may increase between 3% and 4960%.  This amendment can sometimes cause symptoms ranging from impotence to anal irritation to death."

Hi folks,

Looks like what they got [ the Dobb's decision ] is coming around to bite them in the ass:  the [ GOP ] party views abortion as an electoral liability.

Rick Scott faces peril with abortion on Florida’s ballot (thehill.com)

Sort of like the pregnant teenage daughter, we do not talk about it.

IMO could not happen to a more well-deserving group.

I sent money to the campaign of Scott's election opponent, but I do not expect that she will win.

Hi heels,

#1)  Good for you.

#2)  Over the course of my lifetime, I have spent a fair amount of money on women, booze & cars.  The rest I just wasted.

Ultimately, freedom, privacy and bodily autonomy will win out in all these debates, however, the religious assholes will do irreparable harm to the country trying to stop it.

Fuck them.

Hi tk,

From what I have read, every state that has had a pro-abortion/pro-choice measure on the ballot, has passed the measure.

The people have & will speak.

Hi folks,

The insanity continues:  200+ women faced criminal charges over pregnancy in year after Dobbs, report finds • Oregon Capital Chronicle

One can only hope that all modern thinking women will vote for Harris.

IMO this country needs to tell the GOP to go to hell.

Jerry Baumchen

Clearly it is horrific that bringing these kind of charges is a thing. But there is something I noticed in reading the story linked. There is no mention whatsoever of any of them leading to convictions. Are they all still pending?
