It's not a coincidence that you started listening to those opinions after ACA happened, and it's not a coincidence your opinion changed at the same time as the opinion of the leaders of the Republican party changed.

The same people here have been saying the same things about universal healthcare and socialised single payer healthcare for years and years and years prior to that, but you didn't learn from them then. ACA changed the healthcare debate in the USA from the Republican side forever, and your opinion changed as a result.

Not really.  Never thought ACA was a good thing.  Still don't.  Bit it does show that some conservatives are not totally closed minded.

IIRC you had a personal contact with the healthcare system that opened your eyes and led to a change of perspective.

You spent your whole life opposing socialised / universal healthcare despite hearing all the arguments in favour of it many times over. Then ACA happened, and very shortly afterwards you realised that socialised / universal healthcare is a good thing. Again, this is not a coincidence.

ACA has changed the healthcare conversation in the USA forever, by making millions and millions of conservatives including you realise that medical care for all would be a good thing.

Yes, well raising the bar just fractionally higher, is there anything about the health care system you would improve if it helped others before it helped you?

At least some part of your thinking is honest. Some conservatives think the ACA is good but not yourself. You say "some conservatives are not totally closed minded" but that doesn't include yourself. Perhaps later in life you'll open your mind like "some conservatives".

If you do then you'll join the liberal majority.

it is important to distinguish between being open minded and having holes in your head.

The medical system in the U.S. is badly broken.  ACA is anything but a solution.

The idea that having lawyers fix doctors charging too much is an exercise in gullibility.

OK.  We'll just have to agree to disagree then.

Disagree that you have the personal capability of opening up your mind at any point in your entire life? Oh come-on, I'll give you more credit than that.

If you can fix the problems created by lawyers charging too much ... then I will take you seriously.

My experience has been that lawyers create more problems - than they solve - during personal injury lawsuits.

Lawyers are most of who people’s Congress. You know — that body that makes laws. And they broke it in the first place, during and after WW2. What do you propose as an alternative? Just staying healthy?

ACA had plenty of issues; many of them issues of compromise. That’s the world we live in.
