Phil1111 910 #1 Posted March 5, 2022 It looks as if Putin is following Xi's play book on international negotiations. He has started taking hostages. The US state department has now recommended that all US citizens leave Russia immediately.
gowlerk 1,910 #2 March 5, 2022 Many women's professional basketball players decide to play in Russia during the WNBA's offseason for a chance to compete and take advantage of the high salaries overseas teams offer. Griner has made as much as $1.5 million a year in Russia, while she had a base salary of $215,000 last season for the Mercury. It is hard not to think that this woman pretty much deserves whatever happens now. The rest of the world is shunning greed and she is embracing it. But no, she was arrested on her way into the country. I mean, you travel to Russia now, you are taking your chances.

Don't think you have the same rights as you do here. You could end up getting caned for vandalizing cars. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1994-03-04-mn-29913-story.html https://www.nytimes.com/1994/06/27/us/teen-ager-caned-in-singapore-tells-of-the-blood-and-the-scars.html

You worked with people whose cars were vandalised in Singapore in the early ‘90s (allegedly) by a kid whose subsequent caning was an international incident? Of course you did. We’re they your Ukrainian colleagues who were working with you on an Asian project at just the time this happened? Jesus, it’s like talking to Jay from The Inbetweeners.
