Price difference between a crossfire2 and saber2

Recommended Posts

Just was hoping to get some help on approximate price difference between a Saber 2, DOM 2014-2015, 78 jumps
and a Crossfire2 DOM 2004, roughly 280 jumps.
Thanks

friend just recently bought a new rig, the sbr2 170 is mine and I am swapping for their CF2 149

Whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Size of the canopies may make a difference in price because of a different level of demand.

In general, and in my mind, about $1 per jump. Sabres are generally in more demand and that will affect the price. Size greatly affects demand as well. The age is a funny thing. It really should have little to no effect, but it clearly does anyway. And it's very difficult to define. In the end you have to weigh these factors and decide based on what it's worth to you.

does Age not do anything to the material of parachute?

As long as it is properly stored out of the light, age does not affect the nylon in any known way. The biggest factor is normally the amount of exposure to the Sun, or any other source of UV radiation. That's why the number of jumps matters, as well as where it has been packed. Indoor packing is the best. The other major factor is dust and sand. Just go to Arizona or California and look at the color of the canopies.

Age will affect the price of a canopy. But mostly for marketing reasons. People will always be willing to pay more for a 2 yo canopy than a 12 yo one. All other things being equal.

Then there is the fact that Saber 2s are in greater demand than xfire2s. Although both are great canopies. Bottom line is that your Sabre would sell for about $200 to $300 less than a new one would. The Xfire would probably sell for quite a bit less than that.
