The US and others are scouring the world to replenish ex-soviet caliber munitions. Some countries are restarting production of these soviet calibers in western countries. I've heard reports from Russian solders that platoons, regiments have been destroyed and they have yet to see a Ukrainian soldier.

The attacks on Russian command centers has led to the point. Where Russian troops have not heard or seen a commander for weeks. Where Russians don't know where they are. Don't know where they are going and haven't seen resupply for days.

Its good and appropriate for the US to send more ammo. According to average Russians on the street its Americans who attacked Russia in Ukraine. They know this because RT, President Putin and Tucker Carlson have said this. Well Tucker Carlson said that the US was concealing bio-weapons labs in Ukraine. Those labs were designed to attack Russia.

Thankfully they didn't name Canada as attacking Russia.

Reports in Russian media said Mr Antov, 65, had fallen from a window at the hotel in the city of Rayagada on Sunday. Another member of his four-strong Russian group, Vladimir Budanov, died at the hotel on Friday.

Late last June he appeared to react to a Russian missile attack on a residential block in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv that left a man dead and his seven-year-old daughter and her mother wounded.

A WhatsApp message on Antov's account described how the family were pulled out of the rubble: "It's extremely difficult to call all this anything but terror."

Well, a JDAM uses GPS guidance, and Russia is already doing significant jamming:

It would be ironic indeed if the JDAMs had an option to use GLONASS.  A lot of GPS modules now come with that capability built in, but I have no idea if these JDAMs can use them.

Modern munitions, though, use GPS to calibrate an IMU, then use the IMU for guidance once GPS is no longer available.  Partly because that provides resistance to jamming, but also because IMUs have become so amazingly cheap - you can get a Honeywell I300 (an excellent IMU, aircraft grade) for under $2000 from Digi-Key.  Again no idea if these older JDAMs have that capability.

Well for those I'd presume they'd use the military GPS codes, which are much more jamming-resistant than the civilian bands.

IMO it's not working very well.Your link shows it. The only significant jamming is well inside Russia. They must be worried about Ukrainian drone attacks.

There are all kinds of videos of Russian tanks, trucks, etc. Sitting by themselves and in a group. Que the drone footage from above.

Everything is peaceful. Russians complaining about no payment for service. No Food, No water, No air support, No Arty. Then an explosion hits a tank dead on. Not 10' away, dead on. Then another round hits a vehicle dead on, then another. No misses.

Ukrainians must be using HARMs to take out jamming as well as counter battery radars.

You are mis-reading the data. Green indicates no jamming. The lack of green/yellow/red inside Ukraine means they have no data for that area. The data comes from ADS-B, and they are not getting that with Ukraine being a war zone.

It depends on how the jamming is being done:

a) Sending an RF signal spoofing data from a satellite transmitter. Sure military use might be immune.

b) Sending a simple carrier signal to overpower the received satellite signal. When you can't even receive the signal, codes don't matter. And due to the distance from the satellites, it would not be difficult for a ground transmitter to overpower it.

that's why military GPS has the ability to concentrate the signal to a smaller 'spot-beam' to make this more difficult.

Then they'll have to increase the jamming power to compensate, which would then make them sitting ducks for HARMs.

Much or that "drone porn" comes from simple, short-range, commercial drones that are too small to bother installing GPS. The simplest drones operate purely on short-range, line-of-sight radio signals.

This morning's news reported that Russia admitted to losing 87 soldiers to the most recent Ukrainian attack (HIMARS?). Ukrainians tracked Russian soldiers' location by a single cell phone call.

Taliban learned that lesson two decades ago and banned cell phones from meetings.

Why is Russia relearning this lesson the bloody way?????????????

There’s always the possibility that whatever made that floating ice melt might help some of the glaciers to melt as well. Just saying you know
