At the risk of triggering a Godwin, isn't all this rather reminiscent of a certain German dictator in the 1930s and 1940s?

Let's see:

- Invades peaceful country next door for no reason.

- Claims to be protecting the people there who share his country's language.

- Rounds up civilians and forcibly ships them far away.

Yes, perfect duplication of what the Nazis did, and then with a straight face, tries to claim the objective is to "de-Nazify" the area.

Likely bourbon.

Nope.  He's just good at what he does.

I think Brent is a good guy but is a prime example of how FB and FOX soften cognitive abilities. His response to jakee's statement that trump would have done nothing is a good example. While the US victory and ass kicking of Wagner mercenary criminals was entertaining. It had nothing to do with trump authorizing such an action.

GOP thinking is about distraction, misinformation, illusions. Unfortunately come midterms it will be on display with full effect. Thankfully on the Ukraine issue the GOP is on board with punishing Putin. For now.

Allied himself with another dictator that likes to use fascist ideas to control the population. i.e. Xi.

None of the T-14s are there.

And I somewhat doubt that the outcome would be a whole lot different if they were.
They are still full of fuel and ammunition.
They still burn. And explode.

The Armata was designed over the course of five years, and features a number of innovative characteristics, including an unmanned turret. The crew of three is seated in an armoured capsule in the front of the hull,[41] which will also include a toilet for the crew.

At least the crew would have a chance of survival, as opposed to a 0% chance with currently deployed tanks.

A set of tweets from a Ukrainian engineer outlining how they predicted where the Russians would attempt to cross, and had lookouts waiting to call in the alert. The Russians chose the exact location they predicted:

I'm guessing you are one that thought the human/ child sex trafficking at the US southern border was not sufficient enough to warrant a $20B wall to stop it... yet you are happy to send $40B to kiddy fiddlers in Ukraine to fight n already lost war against Russia...

I'd hate to see your porn history.. degenerates always protect each other.

You should read Biden's Daughters diary. But you are to scared to admit how far you have fallen, is my guess.

Good luck with all that...

And I am guessing that you are fine with pedophiles and sex traffickers as long as they are republicans.  Heck, I bet you still support Matt Gaetz.

Dear Mr. Hundredth Monkey,

Please limit your comments to sex crimes committed within Ukraine and during 2022. Most online forums ban discussion of pedophilia.

Skilled debaters using fact, logic and humor to destroy illiberalism , populism and fascism. With an ability to jump behind enemy lines. Its all a serious threat to Putinites.

the conflict eventually evolved into a proxy war between two superpowers as Russia committed its military forces to defending the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Tell me who the President of Syria is today.

Now tell me who achieved their geopolitical aims in Syria.

1.That would be Assad.

2. Certainly not the Obama administration.  At least the subsequent administration demonstrated the willingness to respond in a more robust manner thereby deterring further adventurism.

You mean like Trump throwing the Syrian Kurds under the bus? Which one are you, the ninety ninth monkey?

Well, we had RoyReader a while back. He was actually pretty good.

Then, before that, we had a couple Russians who spewed the party line bullshit on things, like Ukraine being run by neo-Nazis.
I don't know if they were actual skydivers who believed (or at least supported) Putin and his lies, if they were 'factory trolls' who were also skydivers, or just factory trolls who studied skydiving enough to pretend well.

"Big Bug" and "Nebelyin" (or something like that) are the two I can think of off the top of my head.

Russia attempted to establish a bridgehead with up to two BTGs of the 41st Combined Arms Army but sustained heavy losses at Bilohorivka. Three failed attempts and they lost most of two Battalion Tactical Groups including most armor. I watched the opening 20 minutes of "Enemy at the Gates" last night as a reminder. They haven't changed at all: political decisions mean local commanders will sacrifice thousands of troops in obedience just to save their own asses. As more sophisticated western arms flood in you have to like Ukraines chances.

...and there's not much daylight between Trump and Putin these days.

Trump has certainly been flattering of Putin in earlier times, but you would do well to take an actual look at "these days"; Barely a month ago Trump was asked during an interview with Piers Morgan if he would now agree that Putin was a "...an evil genocidal monster?" and responded with "I do, for sure, and who wouldn't? What’s happening is horrible." , in addition to stating that he regarded Putin's threats of nuclear strikes as unacceptable and would counter them with reminders of the West's superior arsenal.  Therefore; these days it's not the 'best mates' narrative that lefties continue to sell.  I dislike Trump myself, I've said it several times, but he should be disliked for valid reasons rather than outdated narratives.

If you’re basing that purely on the fact that a few mercenaries were killed, given the number of Russian soldiers killed with US weapons and intelligence over the last couple of months you’d have to rate Biden’s administration as being the best counter to Russian ambition that we’ve had since Reagan.
