Perhaps a better source, The New Yorker  Its a similar story to what was reported on BBC. Arrests, suspicions about western spies insiders vanishing. Just a normal state of affairs when rats turn on each other.

Speaking of possible heart attacks, Commander of Russian Black Sea fleet, Admiral Igor Osipov was likely onboard his flagship Moskva when she was hit. For the permanent record, would that count towards Ukraines score of Generals and Admirals?

Russia has confirmed it was not an ammo explosion aboard the Moskva:

"Russian strikes pounded a military factory near Kyiv that makes the missiles Ukraine claims it used to sink the Moskva naval flagship, with Moscow on Friday vowing further such attacks."

Immediately after the claimed Ukrainian attack. Russian warships in that area of the Black sea moved farther offshore according to US officials.

From Fark.com:

After Russia's Black Sea flagship accidentally caught fire, other war ships are moving away from the Ukrainian coast so that they don't accidentally catch fire too

LOL!

After the Moskva accidentally caught fire. Its captain, in accordance with his Kuznetsov Naval Academy training. Ordered the Moskva to submerge in order to put the fires out.

The operation was entirely successful.

This is a clip from "60 Minutes" from 2015. In the 2nd half it contains a brief tour of the Moskva which was providing anti-aircraft defense for Syria. But what I found more interesting, was that in the interview with the top Russian officer, he could not even conceal his contempt for Assad!

I saw that posted on Twitter today. It took me a bit to remember the origin:

Hi Tim,

The latest word from Putin is that the Moskva has been re-commissioned as a submarine.  It is currently undergoing sea trials in the Black Sea.

Resurrection

A large group of Russian soldiers in the border area in 2022 are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a small hill: "One Ukrainian soldier is better than ten Russian". The Russian commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the hill where Upon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then silence. The voice once again calls out: "One Ukraine is better than one hundred Russians." Furious, the Russian commander sends his next best 100 troops over the hill and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again Silence.

The calm Ukrainian voice calls out again: "One Ukraine is better than one thousand Russians: The enraged Russian commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the hill. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought... Then silence. Eventually one badly wounded Russian fighter crawls back over the hill and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men...it's a trap. There's two of them."

Early rumor control has it that the FSB arrested the commander of the Black Sea fleet Vice Admiral Igor Osipov. I can only assume the charge is Sailing in the Face of Bad Weather with Ammunition Aboard. What a gong show the Russian Military is. They really aren't any better than in WWII. At Prokhorovka, during the Battle of Kursk, they simply threw so many tanks at the battle they had to win even though their losses were horrible. Hopefully their nuclear arsenal is as competent.

First reaction is to give the Generals/Admirals the chop. Strange how they claimed the ship was on fire, but moved their other vessels further from the coast. You'd wonder how they think their own people/supporters would swallow that BS.

Our morons here in the US will swallow anything, so I'm guessing yes.

That brave Russian missile cruiser successfully intercepted a pair of Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles.

Russian airplanes bombed the Neptune factory to prevent a reapeat.

Typical Russians. Closing the barn door after the horses get out.

The one thing the Russians are successfully doing is slowly grinding Urainian cities and their civilian populations into the dust, which is also what nukes are for.

Interesting backgrounds on those actors:

Werner "Col Klink" Klemperer: Father was Jewish, mother was Lutheran. Family moved from Germany to USA in 1933, when he was 13yo. He served in the US Army in WWII.

John "Sgt Schultz" Banner: Born to Jewish parents in Austria-Hungary. Moved to USA in 1938 at 28yo. Served in US Army Air Forces in WWII and became an actual Sgt.

But the most interesting of the cast was Robert "Corporal LeBeau" Clary, who was an actual Holocaust survivor:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Clary

These are the Russian Deployments as of April 15.  It appears they're ready to attempt their pincer movement to trap the Ukrainians. Interestingly the Northern tank divisions are said to be equipped with T-80U Tanks (and variants). They are all, at best, 47 year old base designs excluding upgrades and, according to the internet, nothing special compared to older T-72's and newer T-90's. In the South I see only Motorized Rifle Regiments and Divisions, but who knows.

Let's hope the Ukrainians once again turn the tables and the rout goes the other way.
