Erdoğan invites Russian oligarchs to Turkey: ‘Our door is open’

Sometimes the MSM in the west has it's head up its ass as far as investigative journalism is concerned.

"The US Trump administration has imposed sanctions on its NATO ally Turkey for acquiring the Russian S-400 missile defense system. Washington has been at odds with Ankara over the purchase for more than a year." 14.12.2020 This was widely reported in western/US press.

I still disagree with NATO direct involvement. But I think President Biden is too timid re Polish MIGs, S-300, systems etc. Putin is starting to get his epiphany with regards to real Russian military power. NATO also needs to supply anti-ship missile systems. Russian ships in the Black sea should be parked at its bottom.

President Biden has stated again and again that article 5 of NATO is absolute. But statements like that leave nations outside NATO in eastern Europe at risk to Putin adventurism. Transnistria,a territory within Moldova, for example has a Russian regiment on it now. It is a Russian enclave within Moldova. A breakaway pseudo republic like the Donetsk

How many children do you think will be killed if Biden "goes now"?

That is not how the US military has acted in the past. In no war ever have civilians including children not suffered more than any other group. War is heck as I'm sure you know.

We may not ever be needed on the ground in Ukraine. Reports are building that the Ukrainians just whacked the Russian elite 4th Guards Tank Division taking out up to 77 of their first line T80U tanks and sending the rest of the unit back to Russia licking their wounds.

Joe - I know it would probably kill ya to admit that Trump did say that, and that he was right. Among the long list of stupid things he did and said, this was not one of them.

In an interview yesterday, I think it was Boris Johnson, that said something like, "he was hard to like but on this issue he was right."

No disagreement. Now do I believe Trump had a single cognizant thought in his adult life, well no. I will credit his advisors first. But regardless of what Trump, Brent, the new Mod or anyone else thinks I know for a fact that I'm always right and that's how I roll.

Interesting story on the Ukraine drone operators:

Guardian: The drone operators who halted Russian convoy headed for Kyiv

"The drone operators were drawn from an air reconnaissance unit, Aerorozvidka, which began eight years ago as a group of volunteer IT specialists and hobbyists designing their own machines and has evolved into an essential element in Ukraine’s successful David-and-Goliath resistance."

Interesting that the modern "drone" was first developed very inexpensively by model airplane hobbyists like Abraham Karem in Israel at a time when the big US contractors couldn't make them work despite spending $millions.  A US model airplane company (Chicago based "Top Flight") used an Israeli modeler's flight controller in foam airplanes it sold to the US Army back in the 1980s.  I was a beta tester for the controller, which weighed about 50 grams.

I was wondering when that was going to start.

The Russians have a lot of stuff staged just on their side of the border.

Oil (POL) is a hell of a good target.

Putin's palace on the Black Sea would also be a good target.[evil grin]

The psychological value would be pretty big.

But the actual tactical or strategic value would be minimal.

The Ukrainians are short enough on stuff that going after targets that have immediate tactical value is vital.

Taking out the Russians gas station means more vehicles running out of fuel.

Apparently the Ukraine Farmer's Association now possesses the 5th largest collection of armored vehicles in the world. More than France, the UK and Canada (each, not collectively).

This is the first step to an escalation that may drag more nations into the fray. Puking and company have already said they might use WMD if they feel Russia is under threat.

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine continue with Ukrainian President Zelensky agreeing to several of Mr. Poutine's demands.

"Sure we can agree to de-nazification. We even agree to bring in some ardent neo-nazis from America to confirm that those charged are "nazi enough" to deserve prosecution.

In other news, Zelensky agreed to return all the Russian vehicles seized in Ukraine. "We are willing to write it off as a silly spring-break frollic by a handful of drunken Russian soldiers who slipped away from adult supervision during spring break. They can have their trucks back as soon as they pay parking fees."

The Ukrainian Union of Tractor and Automobile Mechanics are busy repairing Russian trucks, tanks, mobile rocket launchers, etc. to allow Russian soldiers to drive their trucks, tanks, etc. home as soon as they pay for repairs.

Ludmila Lastokovich - a county court clerk - has reported a record number of mechanics' liens filed in the county court house of Whatchamacallitski, a suburb of Keeve.

Mr. Poutine agreed with President Zelensky that the whole miss-understanding was caused by a handful of drunken soldiers having too much fun during spring break. Mr. Poutine vowed to punish the mischievious lads who were responsible. He also insisted that they return to Russia with all their vehicles, equipment, etc. "If you are not driving your Russian-made army truck, don't bother coming home."

A passport office in Kharkhov reports record numbers of Ukrainain young men requested replacements for their passports that were destroyed during recent fighting. Most of these lost passports belong to young men from the Russian-speaking, Eastern oblasts of Ukraine.

Very true. Which is why Ryoder's idea of going after Putin's (Putler?) summer home might be a bad idea.

But for supplies that are destined for Ukraine, that are a short distance from the border, with no attacks on civilians, all those make it fairly clear that there's no real threat to "Russia", just to the invaders.

I've been wondering how well the Rat Cage on Top idea worked against US Javelin anti-tank missile's. Not too good, apparently.

So much for the rat cage idea.png
