FSB psy-ops for domestic consumption. Perhaps Putin is getting nervous about how incompetent his army is. There were some reports out about how deep and broad his security is. I didn't hear if he uses doubles and tasters to test his food, yet.

No word on if his hands are shaking uncontrollably.

Well, heck, they are fighting Zelenskyy's war for him!  Sorry Slim.  Would be extra bitter to be defeated by your own people.

Well, they are the 'most vicious band of cutthroats'.

You know, thugs and gangsters.

Who are, of course, no match for actual soldiers.

More so as they run out of ammunitions.

They're tucking tail and running.

Good for Ukraine.

No matter how often Slim confidently predicted Russian victory in Bakhmut, a retreat will most certainly also be an example of their superior tactics. When Russia advances 100 metres it’s a smart play, when they fall back 100 kilometres it’s an even smarter play.

Given the value he places on his soldiers at this point (basically zero), I don't expect it to be a whole lot.

When was the last time a Russian ruler cared about soldier casualties????????

Ukraine only hung on to Mariupol as long as they could inflict disproportionate casualties on Russian attackers. They will hang onto Bahkmut as long as they can inflict disproportionate casualties on Russian attackers.

Ukraine is only defending Bahkmut because their well dug-in troops are inflicting heavy casualties during every Russian attack. Traditional logic says that attackers need 3 times as many troops, because well dug-in defenders can inflict heavy losses. When that defensive live becomes untenable, they simply pull back a few hundred meters to the next line of trenches and resume slaughtering attackers as those attackers try to pick their way through collapsed bridges, mine fields, ambushes, booby-traps, pre-planned artillery fire, etc. A well-conducted retreat is always bloody for attackers.

It's the 4th quarter in a football game. You are 45 points ahead. It is not uncommon to save your best players and let the second string finish the game. Pretty common strategy.

And now the situation is so bad for Russia you can’t even write your own propaganda, you just copy and paste someone else’s.

in a football game the second string doesn’t usually take over because the first string are all dead. Kind of a big difference there.

You also don't pull seventy year old players out of retirement because all the first string has either been blown up or captured (mainly after being abandoned).

What if the 70 year olds are the only ones who can remember how to run and fix 70 year old POS equipment. Which is all thats left.

Meanwhile in Russia, of RTV. NATO wants Russia's land and natural resources.

Well, I was using Slim's analogy and referring to the T-54 tanks being brought to Ukraine.

And the reality that the only ones who know how to fix those ancient tanks are likely retired tankers, who are in their 70s.

Which is a pretty big problem, because the life expectancy of the average Russian male is well under 70.
So most of them are dead.

And, in the "good news" department:

Quote

...today, in one of a series of videos, the leader of the mercenary Wagner Group that has been fighting for Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin, expressed fury at the Kremlin for leaving his men without supplies and vowed to leave the key city of Bakhmut on May 10. Standing surrounded by corpses, he raged: “Those are soldiers we lost today. Their blood is still fresh…. They were someone’s sons or fathers. You, f*ckers, who don’t give us ammo, will burn in hell.”

Prigozhin could simply be jockeying for power, but a less ambiguous sign that Russia is in trouble is that Belarus has set up new border controls for Russians trying to enter their borders.

It sounds more and more like Bakhmut ISN'T going to fall to those 'vicious cutthroats' anytime soon.

Because they're going to run away due to being fucked by Vladolf.

Its my understanding that Putin wanted a big victory by May 9th. The 77th anniversary of the allies victory over NAZI Germany. So he sent additional airborne units into the fight.

Given the control over RTV and the internet. He'll likely declare victory somewhere.I'm sure Slim will let everyone know where that victory happened. A kindergarten in Kiev perhaps? A hospital?

Yup. However, 'Victory Day' parades are being cancelled all over Russia.

Various reasons are being suggested.

No tanks or troops to be in the parade.

The "Immortality Regiments" are so much bigger with the casualties in Ukraine approaching 200k. For the Russian public to see how many new recruits are "immortalized' would not be good.

Officially it's 'security concerns' that are stopping the parades.

And that may (amazingly) be at least some of the truth.

There's a contest set for May 9th.

One of the co-founders of a Ukrainian online bank is offering a prize of around $540k (USD) to the first person to land a drone on Red Square on "Victory Day".

That would be absolutely hilarious.

They’ve now cancelled almost all 9th of May parades and celebrations. Ostensibly for security concerns (admitting they can’t keep their skies safe from Ukrainian drones) but probably because they don’t wants crowds of people turning up with with mementos of relatives who died in Ukraine, drawing attention to their staggering losses.

I was thinking similar things.

But Rust flew a 172, not a drone.

I think landing a manned aircraft there, in today's political environment would be a REALLY bad idea.
Putler is just about out of patience. And humor.

Doesn't NEED to send in ground troops?

Ha.

Try 'don't have any left to.'

Don't NEED Wagner for the 'mop up'?

Ha again.

Try "Wagner is running away from the mop up". Prigzohin has said he's going to quit fighting in Bakhmut in a couple more days, because Russia won't give him what he wants.
Mostly because Russia is just about out of everything and won't be able to sustain the war for much longer. The fact that they're trying to get artillery shells from Myanmar and North Korea is pretty telling.

And you're absolutely right that war mongering is evil.

Putler should simply pack up and go home. That would end the evil in Ukraine.

The Ukrainians have decided they won't capitulate to evil. They'd rather fight and die than be subjugated and exterminated by Vladolf (which is something he's explicitly stated).

Russians have started to flee Crimea  500k to 800k Russians are living in occupied Crimea. They have now realized that squatting in Ukraine may not be safe. So back home they go. No buyers have been found for the Russian owned properties.

Hey Slim. When its cold in St. Petersburg you could spend some time in Crimea instead. Cheap sea-side villas. Does the FSB- Internet Research Agency allow work from home?

Is it time for SC to send Slim packing? To the DZ in the Crimea.

FISHED IN!!!!!!! Instead of retreating WAGNER just assaulted Bakhmut big time!!!!!! Russia gave them the ammo they requested and now the city of Bakhmut is in flames. The Russians captured and tortured a Ukrainian. He said that Ukraine had held several thousand civilians in basements of Bakhmut instead of letting them flee 9 months ago. The poor prisoner said that Ukraine would used them as HUMAN SHIELDS in order to escape if need be. Can this be true? Torture is another horror of war just like human shields of women and children. Stop the war ... Negotiate peace and save lives.

Soooo..

Let me get this straight.

You're bragging that the Russians are committing war crimes?
Really?

And the idea that Ukrainians would use civilians as 'human shields' is probably the silliest thing you've posted (and that's saying something).

The Ukrainians could easily have left Bakhmut at any time. They've had solid supply routes into the city for all that they need to slaughter the orcs, they could have left any time they chose.

And the idea that the Russians wouldn't attack Ukrainian soldiers if they had 'human shields' is totally ridiculous.

The Russians are DELIBERATELY targeting civilians. The orcs have tortured and murdered THOUSANDS  of Ukrainian civilians.
When they invaded, they has LISTS of civilians to target.

Now, if you had said that it was the orcs who were holding civilians to use as human shields, that I might believe.
Chickenshit behavior like that is expected from them.

Right, a lovely individual is our Slim. And he clearly doesn’t understand that you don’t actually torture people for information. You torture them so they’ll supply disinformation. “Say what we want you to say or we’ll keep crushing your balls in a vice” is ultimately going to be an effective technique when you try it enough times.

So when someone says “we tortured a guy and he says his side is going to do XYZ!” well, that’s how you know that claim XYZ is total bullshit. Again it’s just amazing how intent Slim is on demonstrating his total ignorance of the world.
