The Midterms for Democrats

I didn't see any posts from you criticizing Jim Quinn.  He was a talk show host who was a protege of Rush Limbaugh, and has come up with gems like referring to the National Organization for Women as the "National Organization for Whores", and claiming that "they're whores for liberal politics in general, and they were whores for Bill Clinton in particular."  During his show he claimed the station's news director was a slut, and lost the resulting sexual harassment lawsuit to the tune of half a million dollars.

Since you didn't post your criticism of him, does that mean you support him?

False equivalence and non seqitur.

Herschel Walker keeps it coming:

That's not the half of it. You CAN'T  make this shit up.

""We're not prepared. We're not ready right now. What we need to do is keep having those gas-guzzling cars, 'cause we got the good emissions under those cars. We're doing the best thing that we can."

""We in America have some of the cleanest air and cleanest water of anybody in the world, so what we are going to do is put, from the Green New Deal, millions, billions of dollars cleaning our good air up. So all of the sudden China and India, they put nothing to clean that situation up. Since we don't control the air, our good air decides to float over to China's bad air. So when China gets our good air, their bad air got to move. So it moves over to our good airspace. Then, now, we got to clean that back up."

Well, Walker is facing questions about his Texas property taxes.
He claimed a 'homestead' credit on his Texas property.

Which is supposed to be for one's 'principal residence'.

Which would make his Georgia residency somewhat in doubt.

There are exceptions and loopholes, so he's not necessarily disqualified, but it doesn't look good.

OTOH, Alaska (and their ranked choice voting) have likely elected 'D' Mary Peltola to the house and "never-Trumper" Lisa Murkowski back to the Senate.

Both had opponents endorsed by Trump.
Murkowski was the only R senator to vote to convict Trump during the impeachment.

I would expect that he likely did that out of ignorance/oversight.  Or he just thought there would be no consequence enforced.   Not like Mark Meadows, who certainly knew that he was committing voter fraud (and expected no consequence).

So can our very own Ron and millions more like him. We can, amongst ourselves, blather about this incessantly but I challenge everyone here to put forward a road map of possible election outcomes where the conservative, religious, minority isn't effectively on top for decades to come and best of luck.

See Joe's response below. IMO it outweighs stupidity. Unless conservative-religious voters are just lumped into a "stupid" block.

One thing that SC has convinced me of. Is the certainty that facts will never trump tribal loyalties. Normally your pessimistic attitude has to be taken with a grain of salt. But a lengthy tough battle lies ahead.

On the positive the economy is not as bad as the UK.The government not as bad as Hungary. But neither of those countries has the religious block that the US has.

Be positive:D The US doesn't have Xi, Putin, Orban, or trump.

Fuel prices are falling.

a. that first statement is so depressingly true...

b. Man, that's a low bar. Pity so many people think it's adequate

That's not true. You might be thinking of the first impeachment when only one senator (Romney) voted to convict.

For the jan 6 impeachment, 7 Republican senators voted to convict.

Ok,, thanks for the correction.

Murkowski was the only one facing reelection who voted to convict.
That's what I misread.

Hi folks,

While not 100%, it does seem as though a number of Trump-backed MAGA-types did not do so good:

Murkowski defeats Trump-backed challenger in Alaska Senate race | The Hill

Peltola defeats Palin in Alaska House race | The Hill

Peltola defeats Palin in Alaska House race | The Hill

Letter: Kent shows he’s a loser - The Columbian

And, the interesting part is where so many of them refuse to concede.  Hmmm, I wonder who started that trend?

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  Oh, the winning.

In heavily red Cochise County, AZ officials are refusing to certify the election, crying about the top seats (governor, sec of state, AG) going D in close races.  They aren't saying that anything is wrong in their county -- just that they have heard things they don't like about other counties (Maricopa in particular).  If they don't certify by next week, the Cochise County votes will not be included in the statewide tabulation.  If that happens, a US Representative seat will flip from R to D, along with a state schools chief.  Then we will really see some crying.  Can you imagine being that R candidate, having won, and some dipshits cause some of your votes not to count?

Being stupid should have consequences.

Allowing a huge amount of stupid people to take control of the party should have consequences.

This is fucking hilarious.

There is serious moral decay in the GOP leading directly to such stupidity.  It's like the political equivalent of syphilis.
