Think farther back than that.
In 1980, my buddy J.P. Forrest jumped onto the North Pole with a group of Canadian Army Field Engineers to bulldoze an airstrip on the polar pack ice. The field engineers were supporting Canadian scientists mapping an ocean floor ridge. They hoped that their survey would support Canada's claims to the high arctic.
I doubt if J.P. was the first person to parachute onto the North Pole.

Most Canadian flights to the North Pole refuel at Canadian Forces Station Alert, at the northern tip of Ellesmere Island. You will need permission from Ottawa to land on the military airstrip. Hint: pre-ship your own fuel.

You are incorrect on this. Very few flights will refuel at Alert. Most flights will refuel in Greenland. Fuel is essential for life in Alert and taking fuel out of there requires special permission and is only done when no other options are available. Most flights will bypass Alert altogether if going to the North Pole. I have spent a lot of time in the arctic close to the North Pole and never heard of or seen flights got to Alert to travel north. All were going through Greenland.
