AaronD 0 #1 February 18, 2016 Someone recently gave me a cool map that shows all the US drop zones and whether they are large or small DZ's. I am about ready for a move and I make my living decisions usually based largely on location. What are the most picturesque DZ's you've visited in the US? Maybe not so well known but mountain backdrops or something like that... I did my AFF at Pudding Hill (now closed) in south isl new zealand and it was amazing. Great views, cool little town and lots of jumping...looking to find something similar in the states... Thoughts? I have a tiny house so just need 'rv' parking available. Snowcrash 0 #4 February 19, 2016 A bit off topic, but if you are ever in northern Europe, make sure you stopp by Voss (Norway) and Näsinge (Sweden). Both are said to be among the world's most beautiful.

johnhking1 89 #8 February 19, 2016 Some where on dropzone.com, some one rated Finger Lakes Skydivers in Ovid, NY as the second most beautiful DZ in the US. They ranked Skydive Moab first. Finger Lakes Skydivers has a spectacular view of the Finger Lakes Region, a series of 11 glacial dug lakes that run north and south like the fingers on a hand. http://www.fingerlakes.org/about-the-region/lake-information http://fox41blogs.typepad.com/wdrb_weather/2013/11/fascinating-high-res-satellite-image-of-finger-lakes-in-new-york.html
DJL 232 #9 February 19, 2016 You're not going to find many that are both year-round medium to big places AND have beautiful views. I clicked on this to tout http://www.skydiveharborsprings.com/pure-michigan-sky-diving-charlevoix-airport-mi.htm It's a mostly tandem 182 DZ but I've never seen a more beautiful view from the sky. During the summer they have a day per week when local jumpers get together and jump."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Mt Baker to the north East Glacier Peak just to the East All of the North Cascades to the East ( Aka the American Alps) Vancouver Island and the Provincial Capital of British Columbia just to the west on the other side of Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Ju DeFuca to the NW Olympic Mountains on the other side of the Straits south of Port Angeles and hundreds of small islands in the San Juan Islands below you. ufk22 32 #12 February 19, 2016 No mountains, but Skydive Sebastian, every ride to altitude is over the inter-coastals and always turbines. This is the paradox of skydiving. We do something very dangerous, expose ourselves to a totally unnecesary risk, and then spend our time trying to make it safer.
riggerrob 599 #13 February 19, 2016 If you want mountain scenery, go jump at Skydive Whistler. Cessnas go up to 10,000 feet, so you exit just below local peaks. A turbine will take you above all the (hundreds) of snow-capped mountains. You don't need an altimeter, just pull after you pass the V-shaped glacier on the south side of the valley. They land at Pemberton Airport, just a few miles northeast of the 2010 Winter Olympics slopes. Better be good at spotting or else you land on the Indian reservation on the north side of the River ... and that River flows fast! If you spot too far south, you will hit a heavily-wooded, steep slope. Spot too Far East? No big deal. Spot too far west and you land on a golf course. It's on a Beautiful Farm with grass runways, unique West Wind turbine aircraft. You can live on the DZ. Hotels and Motels close by.
