Finally watched it. I liked the original (it had Keanu Reeves looking hot -- how couldn't I?). This was OK; less story, more action (and to my unsophisticated eyes, the action looked good). There wasn't the embarrassing and completely unlikely kidnapping scene where he sells his soul, and Utah gets the girl.

Not a classic, but it was way better than Cutaway (which had a better audience response on RottenTomatoes).

Cutaway probably has a better rating bc of the characters.

At least in cutaway a speed star doesn't take 6 minutes to form.....

It's POINT BREAK FFS, not Shakespere.

The original plot was rubbish.
It's an action movie. Stalones plots suck, Arnies plots suck, Stathams plots suck. die hard plots suck.

They're not plot or character driven movies, they're ACTION FLICKS.

Yes, it looked like there was a bit of CGI in some of the wing suiting,

I've been hearing this comment quite a lot.

All the shots in the sequence are real but some visual effects were added, cloud and the odd tree. In one shot they made the crack look narrower.

The slow mo shot with the 4 wingsuit flyers flying into lens is REAL and the blue suit is touching the grass.

Many of the angles were achieved with the camera man flying base with the camera turned backwards / angled on an ball joint and also some back flying. These angles look strange, agreed, but are still real.

There are shots made with ankle and wrist mounts, plus cineflex shots and varied ground cameras with tele lens.

The team flew the crack as a 4 / 5 way formation a few dozen times.

So were the outside shots done as a 4 way? (because some of the angles would show the camera flyer in the shot, although I suppose he could be removed in post?)

Exactly, most of the external angles had just the 4 way in the air. One of the cameramen had a Utah suit and was used as the 4th flyer a few times.
