Ignoring the peanut gallery, the committee f'd it up. Great with the Proud Boy's being at the barriers before Trump spoke and the hero cop's testimony was compelling. But to whom? Thompson's dumb yielding time pursuant to Rule 508 subsection 503(d) probably lost 10% of the viewer right there. Cheney promising that if we all just stay around until episode 6 we'll show how the General did it probably lost another 25%. They need to not be an August Committee and instead need to talk to people, as in we got the motherfucker (or similar) and yada, yada, yada.

On reflection they should now turn everything they have over to DOJ and go into prosecute demand mode before they cause everyone to not be bothered.

Top Trump advisers did not believe election fraud claims had merit.

William P. Barr, Trump’s former attorney general, told the committee he saw “absolutely zero basis” for claims the election had been stolen. In a video clip aired as part of the committee’s televised hearing, Barr said he had discussed the results of the election with Trump three times in the weeks after the election Trump’s daughter Ivanka said she treated Barr’s views as decisive. “I accepted what he was saying,” she told the committee.

Jared and Ivanka moved to Florida right after the election loss. Because they both believed their time of self enrichment off the state had ended.

I find this whole televised circus disheartening. Where is the US department of justice in this whole equation? Why can America not treat everyone as equals before the law? Why are American presidents treated as imperial gods who answer to none?

Other countries lock up ex-presidents. Charge them with crimes. Italy, France, as examples. Such sickness of imperialist governance is spreading, aka Boris Johnson.

For all Boris’ faults he’s still subject to the law. In the recent scandal the lockdown parties in No 10 were investigated by the police, and he was issued a fixed penalty notice (equivalent to a speeding fine) by the police, under the same laws and regulations that apply to any other citizen. This would be the case for any other crime.

No one’s going to argue the system worked perfectly, but it’s a world away from the cult of the presidency that has developed in the US. Their ideas that a President is immune from any prosecution, and can invoke executive privilege to hide any documents or testimony from congressional oversight are batshit crazy.

I'm not sure the monarch can be prosecuted  (The Crown vs The Crown?), although beheading is always an option.

No one cared about her emails until numerous dog and pony shows had been held. Sounds like you’re terrified the same thing is going to happen.

So far the most stunning revelation was that the Proud Boys had violated the sanctity of Taco Tuesday by eating them on Wednesday.   I suspect more than one network will follow FOX’s lead and dump coverage before this is over.

I agree. But there is the separate issue of Brexit The populist ideals and benefits of which were sold as a panacea for all that ailed the UK. There is a non-rational, non-thinking segment of any population that falls for the sucker born every minute.idealism of populist leaders.

FOX isn't a news network and coverage of the hearings. Would interfere with pandering to the ignorant and to ongoing distractions from real news

“Democrats think voters will be so gob-smacked by the revelations of the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack that they will forget about soaring gasoline and food prices, rising crime, a 15,000-person caravan of people about to cross our southern border, the baby formula shortage and power brownouts, which are likely to hit our country this summer.

Yup, they’re convinced that Americans being force-fed (every major network will broadcast the House hearings live during prime time) scenes of yahoos waving flags and storming our Capitol will rebuild President Biden’s dismal approval ratings and put his fellow Democrats on the road to victory just in time for the midterms. Fat Chance.”

What do you really think is going to motivate voters this fall, January 6 or $6.00 gas?

For those that think only about themselves. For those who pick and choose the parts of the constitution that they respect or obey. For those who believe American responsibility and interests end at the border.

Their voting motivations are clear.

If there was some basis for giving Trump a medal for achieving in four years more than any elected official could possibly have in a lifetime, and thereby disqualifying him from ever holding elected office or other Government position, I'd go for it.

Sending him back to the private sector or reality teevee or wherever else he winds up is preferable to wasting the bandwidth to deal with him further.  Whoever he burns on deals in the future should chalk it off to tuition.

I expect that FOX viewers will continue to be influenced by such FOX mouthpieces. We are hearing a lot of right wing whataboutism, as expected.

I agree. They should be focusing on an audience of one: Merrick Garland. The American public who elected Tayor-Greene and Boebert and Jorden and........... aren't going to change their minds. The rest of us know the truth already. Get him indicted and then go on TV with the dog and pony show.

Is that as deep as you can go? Do you think Cheney is doing the select committee work to get reelected? For some, victory in the mid-terms will be an eviscerated Trump and a stronger democracy. Sadly, too many people who think they know better see the world only through an amber colored gallon of gas.

Not just gas, it is inflation (not seen in a generation) resurgent COVID, border crisis, crime wave, overdose epidemic, and baby formula shortage just to name a few.

Not to worry my leftie friends, Joe will just rebrand Republicans as MEGA-MAGAs and say January 6 over and over and he will roll back the red tide.

Hi Joe,

It is the old:  'I want it and I want it now.'

Therein lies our problems.

The only border crisis is the gobsmacking inability of some conservatives to understand that on the other side of a border is another country whose economy is also being affected by world events, as is ours. And like our economy theirs is also not a sole function of Biden's presidency. Your fixation with fossil fuels blinds you to larger realities. For example gasoline, on a worldwide comparison basis, is actually cheap here.  https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/

GOP members in Congress (with a few exceptions) need to submit DNA samples. One day, they're going to find rooms at Mar-a-LIE-go filled with backbones and balls and DNA will be needed to positively identify them so that they can be returned to the rightful owners.

Right, if it’s not going to affect the next election you shouldn’t bother trying to hold the Executive branch to account for egregious misconduct and corruption in public office.

You know we can smell the desperation coming off you?

“The Department of Homeland Security plans to transport migrants awaiting immigration proceedings from U.S. cities along the southern border farther into the interior of the country, beginning with Los Angeles in the coming weeks, according to internal documents obtained by NBC News.”

Thats going to make a nice bumper sticker for some aspiring Republicans

Should we bomb Mexico? Machine Gun the migrants? Should Poland be bombing Ukraine and machine gunning Ukrainian migrants? Should Europe be sinking every boat of migrants trying to land? It's a world problem not a Biden problem no matter how full of glee it all makes one Pennsylvanian feel.
