Singer 401A

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Over the years, I have talked about this machine as being a rather good machine for a first, inexpensive machine for a rigger.  It is considered a 'heavy duty household' machine.

Here is some info on it:  The Singer 401A Sewing Machine Value, History and Review (sewingiscool.com)

In the early 70's, I built my first container using one.  I do not recommend doing it; but, if you like a challenge.

I've got 5 of them sitting in my basement. I used to refurbish them and Ebay them.

Hi Jerry

33 years ago I got a package deal. A wife and a 401.

Both are still going strong.

Barney

Hi Barney,

On the other end of that; when I got divorced, the wife & my then 401A left.

I bought another one last year.
