Hi John,

Good thought.

However, I wonder if the mods actually have that authority anymore.  To me, it does seem so.

They still have it.

They just choose not to use it anywhere near as much as before.

The 'blocking' feature that came with the new format is part of the reason.
If you don't like a troll, and are unable to resist feeding them, block them.
They won't go completely away. If someone quotes them, their idiotic posts will show up as the quoted section.
But it's a big help.

Indeed! I just used it yesterday.

Hi Joe,

Yea, I got a couple of folks in the 'block' category.

And, thanks for the other info.

Rep Louis Gohmert has a brilliant idea to fix climate change!

You have a slightly different definition of the word 'brilliant' than I do.

Either that or we really need a 'sarcasm' font.

That's on the same level as worrying about Guam capsizing.

Surely, you and I have been around here long enough that you can recognize my sarcasm! LOL!

I swear Gohmert must be one of the stupidest people in Congress.

I've got a great idea how we could mess around and change the climate. We could alter the chemical composition of the atmosphere. That would do it!

Well, in the “let’s fix the symptoms since we’re unwilling to address the cause” department, there’s also some research to see about releasing sulfate particles in the atmosphere to reflect some of the sun. Story here

Bill Gates seems to be interested among others. I’d want to know a whole lot more before thinking it might be a good idea.

First problem of many. Who will decide for the world if this should be done? Uncle Sam's main man Gates?

That was in 2010, and it’s been referenced already. But hey — never miss an opportunity to slam.

But it sure is brutal to watch the complete idiocy displayed and the poor Admiral somehow trying to answer the question.

Stupid is as stupid does.  Stupid recognizes neither time nor political affiliation.  I was unaware of a statute of limitations on stupid.

Wasn't that basically the plot of the Matrix?

I have an even better idea.  If the Sun is the problem, why not just nuke the Sun?  That would also own all the loser libs who like their elitist solar panels!

Deliberately messing with a system as complex as the atmosphere seems like a TERRIBLE idea.

The consequences for getting something wrong could be catastrophic and I just don’t believe we understand it well enough to be considering something like that.

Hell, we can’t even predict the weather reliably.

I have seen quite a few ideas floated about such schemes over the years. Mostly they are just theoretical. I don't believe any attempt to do this would be made unless the world largely agreed and only if we were already in serious trouble. In other words, not till it was too late.
