Only some bones are sacred

Recommended Posts

NPR story

In the 1980's, and apartment complex with Black families that were militantly and disruptively against institutionalized racism (although it didn't have that name yet), and were the subjects of an eviction attempt that turned violent, with a police officer killed. They were generally angry assholes -- but they were black angry assholes, instead of the guy with the "survivors will be shot again" sign.

In a parallel to the Branch Davidian debacle, after a standoff, in 1985 a helicopter dropped a bomb on the house, it caught fire, and firefighters weren't allowed to fight the fire (the danger was too great -- however, it wasn't too great earlier, when they wet the house and surrounding ones down in preparation). There were a number of children killed.

Fast forward to today. Those children weren't buried or treated respectfully; at least two of them had their bone -- their BONES -- saved and used for exhibition and study, without permission from anyone. Now the bones have been lost.

This kind of thing is why so many minorities feel marginalized. Yes, they were assholes. But they were still people who should have had protection of the same laws. People in the US should have equal treatment under the law, -- even if they're assholes -- and people charged with carrying out the law need to enforce that law equally, and not "teach them a lesson."

That is because it wasn’t invented until 2020 after the killing of George Floyd.

Is that the first time you got a sense that white superiority might be slipping away? Is that why you think it wasn't "invented" until then?

I don't care if they were assholes. 5 of the 11 killed were children. The city and the universities could at least put up a memorial of some kind - for the children. FFS. Children

<hangs head in disgust>.

I have finally learned to see how things really are instead of how they should be.

These are evil times with evil people, everywhere, in all facets of society and government.

In this case who were the evil people?

And the streak continues. You never miss an opportunity to showcase your ignorance. It’s impressive!

Now a agent for truth in religion has died. I've made no secret of the disgust that i have who use religious donations to live lavish lifestyles. “There’s more fraud in the name of God than any other kind of fraud in the world,” he said in the 2013 interview. “That’s just heartbreaking.”

Ole Anthony, Scourge of Televangelists, Dies at 82

"After working as a well-paid Republican operative, he gave up a lavish lifestyle to live in poverty as a self-proclaimed Jeremiah, calling out fraud in the name of God.

Ole Anthony, a former Air Force intelligence specialist and Texas political operative who found Jesus in 1972, built a following among the down-and-out of east Dallas, and then used that movement to take down a rogue’s gallery of unscrupulous televangelists and faith healers, died on April 16 at a house in Dallas that he shared with several members of his organization, the Trinity Foundation. He was 82.

His death was confirmed by Pete Evans, a Trinity member who, like Mr. Anthony, had taken a vow of poverty before acquiring a private investigator’s license, which let him peer deeper into the lifestyles of rich and famous preachers...a man who, like a latter-day Jeremiah, believed it was his job to call out religious scam artists, especially those who had grown wealthy off their congregations....

He specialized in what he called garbology — rooting through dumpsters for evidence of legal or spiritual fraud by televangelists like Robert Tilton, Benny Hinn and W.V. Grant, just three of the more than 300 he went after during his nearly 35-year campaign.

He compiled the results in long reports that he fed to reporters, and he made frequent appearances on shows like “Primetime Live” and “Inside Edition.” His work was largely responsible for the implosion of Mr. Tilton’s $80 million-a-year empire and Mr. Grant’s 1996 imprisonment for tax evasion. In 2007, he worked with the U.S. Senate Finance Committee in its own investigation into televangelists."

I have no idea, no knowledge of the incident.

It often seems that your knowledge of an incident is directly proportional to how much that incident supports your beliefs and biases.

After a BLM riot, for example, you present yourself with someone who has extensive knowledge of the incident, even when it occurs thousands of miles away from you.  But after the Trump-supporter insurrection, you professed to not really know what happened, so you couldn't comment on it.

No, it has to do with the fact that i have simply lost interest. It is what it is. The last days and all.

I have personal knowledge dating back to the late '80s regarding Robert Tilton and Benny Hinn. The were/are fraudulent in their ministries.

Bad singers do not change the meaning of the song.

i highly doubt that, the interest part that is.  i have been hearing about the "last days" for almost 51 years now, and have heard about it going on for millinea.  end times?  that just ain't gonna happen like you think it is.

It's been going on for longer; it's just with the advent of media the signal is louder and wider than ever before.

I'm pretty sure the next time someone says antifa did something somewhere you'll magically find your interest once more.

Whatever is going on in your life I hope you find the strength and peace you need.

Thank you. I and my friends are at peace. We are prepared for the very remote worst. We are focusing on communal care. We are at that stage and we are drawing closer together.

Our biggest question right now is, how long will they let Biden stay in office before tossing the ball to Kamala?

That's nice. But I was more concerned about your wife who you were saying was having some health issues. I don't think very much or worry about Biden's health.
