Matt Gaetz sex trafficking allegations

Meanwhile back in Gaetz news -

Turns out that his good friend Jason Pirozzolo, a drug entrepreneur and doctor, planned a trip to the Bahamas for Gaetz in 2018.  Pirozzolo paid for Gaetz's travel, hotel room, entertainment, alcohol, drugs and hookers, and also gave him at least $2000 in campaign donations.  In return, Gaetz made two speeches in support of Pirozzolo's organization - the Medical Marijuana Physicians Association - while in Congress.

Investigators are also looking into this "pay to play" scheme, and to what degree Pirozzolo paid for Congressional influence.

Wealthy person buys congressional influence?

"Dog bites man" isn't news.

Ironic that legalised cannabis is probably one of the only worthwhile causes he supported during his political career, but he did it for corrupt reasons.

What does  a political hate campaign have to do with skydiving? Shoot - let's talk about saving lives through better training rather than engaging in the political campaigns of lies and deceit. Let's fly fly free.

Matt Gaetz is that you?

I can't think of many reasons that someone would jump into speakers corner, and then bitch that a discussion about a specific dirty pederast legislator was a political hate campaign. PR? (Lack of) Virtue signaling? "Don't read good"?

As has been mentioned even the most idealess congress critters are distancing themselves from Gaetz. They have to draw a line somewhere, inciting an insurrection isn't over the line, but apparently (underage) hookers and blow crossed it.

Meanwhile you are over here trying to get us to call off the dogs, I don't get it.

Are you aware that Matt Gaetz acting as a lawyer was successful in appealing a decision that could have closed a Florida DZ?

I was unaware of that fact.

I see the overlap in the venn diagram now. On one side you have a pedophile FL lawyer/politician, on the other side you have FL skydivers, the intersection would be labeled people that would like to sleep with DZO's daughter.

And in a development that surprises . . . absolutely no one at all, Gaetz once pushed for a "scorched-earth" policy towards sex offenders, and demanded that older men who preyed on younger women end up "behind bars for 50 years minimum."

======================

In 2014, long before becoming the subject of a federal sex trafficking investigation, Matt Gaetz pushed Florida to enact what he called a “scorched earth” policy toward sexual predators.

Gaetz, then 31 years old, served as chairman of the Florida House of Representatives’ Criminal Justice subcommittee. He cosponsored legislation that increased the mandatory prison time for convicted sexual offenders, calling it some of the most important work his subcommittee would do.

. . .

Gaetz cosponsored legislation that year that would increase Florida’s mandatory minimum sentence for violent sexual offenders to 50 years.

The bill also broadened the definition of “sexual activity” that could qualify as a second-degree felony for a person 24 or older who engages in sexual activity with a 16-year-old or a 17-year-old, according to a staff analysis of the bill.

“If we’ve learned anything from the evidence, it’s that many of these individuals who specifically go out and target the very most vulnerable among us are simply wired differently, and I would like to see them behind bars for 50 years minimum,” Gaetz said of violent sexual offenders as the subcommittee was considering the legislation.

 After a lobbyist criticized the legislation as an attempt to throw the “kitchen sink” at the issue in an attempt to keep sex offenders locked up for as long as possible, Gaetz agreed.

Nice. Can Stone be charged and jailed over this?

On January 25, 2019, Stone was arrested at his Fort Lauderdale, Florida, home in connection with Robert Mueller's Special Counsel investigation and charged in an indictment with witness tampering, obstructing an official proceeding, and five counts of making false statements.

Nothing he was pardoned for was related to the issue at hand.

Meanwhile:

===========
Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida have a lot in common. . . .

They've now formed a joint fundraising committee and are making plans to travel the country together on what they are calling an "America First" tour.  The pair were early and passionate supporters of former President Donald Trump, and they have no problem challenging the establishment leaders within their own party.. . .

Earlier this month, when Greene flirted with the idea of forming an "America First" caucus, a leaked flier promoting the caucus received sharp criticism for using inflammatory rhetoric. While many Republicans -- even some from the far-right Freedom Caucus -- were quick to distance themselves from the document and the caucus itself, Gaetz proudly proclaimed he was ready to sign up.
==============

So act now, republicans!  You can get in on the ground floor of this awesome new pro-Trump America First tour, with the "Jewish space lasers" woman and the "she said she was 18" guy!  There may even be a slot for a new spokesman soon.

I'm in favor of it all. Until moderate responsible republicans take back the party. The poison that is trump and his mish-mash nutty ideas. Are best kept at bay by actions like this. The longer Gaetz remains around. The longer the GOP refuses to ditch him. The more it hurts the far right of the GOP/trump movement.

And now the probe has expanded into corruption.

In 2014 Gaetz wrote, and pushed through, a bill allowing certain kinds of medical marijuana usage.  It created a lot of controversy over the broad strokes - but no one looked too carefully at the details.  One piece of small print in the bill put odd (and very restrictive) limits on what kind of marijuana grower could legally sell their product.  Another required a dispensary to employ a doctor before they were allowed to sell marijuana.

The bill passed.

And what do you know?  It just so happens that Halsey Beshears, a close friend of Gaetz - and a republican Florida state representative to boot - owned a nursery.  And that odd little note in the bill limited nurseries who could legally grow marijuana to "nurseries that had been in continuous business for 30 years and had an inventory of at least 400,000 plants."  And even more fortuitous is that the Beshears nursery was one of the very few nurseries that met that requirement!  What a coincidence!  So Beshears got a huge payday.

And another close friend of Gaetz - Dr. Jason Pirozzolo - just happened to be a doctor with a long history of advocating for medical marijuana!  He had a consulting firm ready to go that connected marijuana businesses with medical directors.  He then parlayed that into becoming the founder of the American Medical Marijuana Physicians Association.  Again, what a coincidence!

(In another unrelated coincidence, the two of them were actually in the House chamber when the final vote was taken on the new law.)

Four years later the three of them would head to the Caribbean to party with very young girls who had been paid to be there.  The alcohol and drugs were also free.

The latest chapter in the pay-to-play system that the GOP has created.

Back before the DZ when I worked with the bird and bunny people to save the world I did a favor for a powerful lobbyist. Maybe a decade later when an anti skydiving bill was introduced in Oregon the other DZ's and USPA went the traditional route of crying and moaning and wishing it wasn't true. I, on the other hand, called in my favor and the thing was steered to the right committee and kept at the bottom of the inbox until the session ended. Once the problem was solved I was able to go back to deploring corruption.

You neglected to get them to outlaw only those DZ's whose owners had a last name that started with A through V.  A foolish oversight on your part!

But only a slight one. We immediately got to work on an Airports Protection Bill. When it was signed into law a couple of years later imagine my surprise to learn that my Airport was now protected against any local government action of any kind and, just to be sure, my county needed to add an overlay zone to their comprehensive plan that included unlimited expansion of parachuting activities and aircraft operations at Skydive Oregon Airport. Boy, I sure caught a break with that one.

You've been spying on me! So, when one of your responsibilities is to keep the Earth First terrorists under control it seemed, at the time, politic to symbolically align ones new environmentally questionable business with the most dominant tree hugging group in the state. Hippies have long memories, it turns out.

Quick Google search. It turns out that Skydive Oregon Airport has a Wikipedia page. Google maps show that not only do you run a highly polluting and carbon fuel based enterprise, but you are also doing so on some prime agricultural land. No wonder you need political allies for protection. Nice DZ BTW.

Hey, I resemble that remark! And it's no longer good farm land. I rezoned it so now it's called something else and and also subdivided it so now it has imaginary lines running everywhere. Too dangerous to farm now, unfortunately.

Did you also develop the housing lots bordering you to the east?

More bad news for Gaetz.  Two witnesses - and Greenberg - will testify that Gaetz snorted cocaine with an escort while on a Trump fundraising campaign, billing his expenses for the trip to his supporters.  The escort was later given a cushy "no-show" government job, a position where you get paid for never showing up.

But good news for RonD, since we are finally uncovering the underage sex ring in government.  From the Daily Beast:

=============================================================

When Rep. Matt Gaetz attended a 2019 GOP fundraiser in Orlando, his date that night was someone he knew well: a paid escort and amateur Instagram model who led a cocaine-fueled party after the event, according to two witnesses.

The Florida congressman’s one-time wingman, Joel Greenberg, will identify that escort to investigators as one of more than 15 young women Gaetz paid for sex, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

But what distinguishes this woman, Megan Zalonka, is that she turned her relationship with Greenberg into a taxpayer-funded no-show job that earned her an estimated $7,000 to $17,500, according to three sources and corresponding government records obtained by The Daily Beast.

On Oct. 26, 2019, Gaetz attended the “Trump Defender Gala” fundraiser as the featured speaker at the Westgate Lake Resort in Orlando. Two witnesses present recalled friends reconvening at Gaetz’s hotel room for an after-party, where Zalonka prepared lines of cocaine on the bathroom counter. One of those witnesses distinctly remembers Zalonka pulling the drugs out of her makeup bag, rolling a bill of cash, and joining Gaetz in snorting the cocaine. . .

The congressman—who has declared that he “never paid for sex”—wrote off the stay at the hotel as a campaign expense, with his donors picking up the tab.
