‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

Their front page was haunting. They post the same headline and similar article after every mass shooting. Their front page had each of those articles on it.....

Right now it is still like that:

American Exceptionalism

Wendy P.

"CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A woman in West Virginia fatally shot a man who began firing an AR-15-style rifle into a crowd of people that had gathered for a party, authorities said.

Dennis Butler, 37, was killed Wednesday night after he pulled out the rifle and began shooting at dozens of people attending the birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in the city of Charleston, police said in a statement.

The woman, who was attending the party, drew a pistol and fired, killing Butler,"

Yep exceptional. This will spread like wildfire in the gun forums, in AR15.com chat-rooms. Armed Americans becoming hero's by killing armed assailants.

"During a press conference in Uvalde County, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott said the state needed to focus on mental health and not restricting gun ownership to prevent future mass shootings like the one that happened at Robb Elementary School." Texas is last in spending on mental health.

The image in a advertising tweet from the manufacturer of the Ar-15 used by the Uvalde shooter, Daniel Defense. Days before the shooting.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it,”(Proverbs 22:6 King James Version) a cutline reads above the photo. Note the 30 round mag at the feet of the toddler.

The tweet, an apparent reference to a Bible verse, ended with a prayer emoji. The DDM4 V7 retails for about $2000. Remember this was a 18 year old shooter.

Train up a toddler with a Ar-15, only in America. trump wants to arm teachers in US schools when trained, armed, Texas troopers refused to face this same weapon.

Daniel Defense received $3.1 million in non-refundable grants from the trump administration. In turn in the last year they donated $190,000 to the GOP in the last calendar year. "Four of the company’s semi-automatic rifles were found in the hotel room of the gunman who fatally shot 60 people at a 2017 Las Vegas"

Surely this was mass shootings per year, not total.  Am I looking at it wrong?  We are already well over 200 so far this year.

"Developed countries, 1998-2019" After that American exceptionalism took over. As such. America was in a league of its own.

2022's sacrifices, so far

Jan. 19, Baltimore: A man who worked for a gun violence reduction program was killed in an East Baltimore neighborhood, along with two others. A fourth person was injured.

Jan. 23, Milwaukee: Five men and a woman were found shot to death at a Park West neighborhood home. The police believe the attack targeted specific people.

Jan. 23, Inglewood, Calif.: The same day, a shooting at a birthday party killed four people, including two sisters, and wounded a fifth. The shooting was gang-related, the mayor said.

Jan. 29, St. Louis: A shooting near an intersection killed three young men and wounded a fourth. Police said they had no suspects.

Feb. 5, Corsicana and Frost, Texas: A 41-year-old man murdered his mother, his stepfather, his sons and the son of his ex-girlfriend in an overnight shooting. The man later fatally shot himself.

Feb. 28, Sacramento: A man shot dead his three daughters and their chaperone at a church during a court-approved visit. The children’s mother had a restraining order against the shooter, who killed himself.

March 12, Baltimore: A shooting in Northwest Baltimore killed three men in a car and wounded a fourth.

March 19, Fayetteville, N.C.: A Saturday night shootout in a hotel parking lot killed three people and wounded another three. The shooting may have been linked to a fight between motorcycle gangs.

March 19, Norfolk, Va.: Hours later, an argument outside a bar escalated into a shooting that killed three young bystanders. One of the victims was a 25-year-old newspaper reporter whose editor called her to cover the shooting, not realizing she had been killed.

April 3, Sacramento: At least five shooters fired more than 100 rounds a block from the State Capitol, killing six people — three men and three women — and wounding 12. The police described the shooting as gang-related.

April 20, Duluth, Minn.: A 29-year-old man who said he suffered from mental illness killed his aunt, uncle, two young cousins and their dog in their sleep. He later killed himself.

April 21, Mountain View, Ark.: A man killed his parents, another woman and her son at two homes half a mile apart in a rural community, the police say.

April 27, Biloxi, Miss.: A 32-year-old man killed the owner of the Broadway Inn Express motel and two employees in an argument over money. He fled to a neighboring town and fatally shot a fourth person. Police later found the gunman dead, barricaded inside a convenience store.

May 8, Clarkston, Ga.: Three people were shot to death and three others were wounded at a suburban Atlanta condo complex on a Sunday night.

May 14, Buffalo: An 18-year-old avowed white supremacist killed 10 people and wounded three more with an assault-style weapon in a live-streamed attack at a supermarket.

May 24, Uvalde, Texas: An 18-year-old gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School.

May 27, Stanwood, Mich.: A 51-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and her three young children at a home in Mecosta County before shooting himself, police said. The man remains in critical condition.

June 1, Tulsa, Okla.: A gunman killed his back surgeon, another doctor, a receptionist and a visitor at a medical building. He then killed himself.

As long as this list is, it’s also a very incomplete accounting of American gun violence. It doesn’t include the at least 60 shootings that left three people dead but don’t technically count as mass shootings (because fewer than four people were shot). It doesn’t count shootings that wounded people without killing anybody, like one in Milwaukee that injured 17 people.

And they're coming thick and fast:

CNN —

A convicted murderer who escaped last month from a prisoner bus in Texas was killed in a shootout with officers late Thursday, just hours after he was named the prime suspect in the killing of four children and an adult in a home in Leon County, officials said.

“He fired several rounds at officers and was armed with an AR-15 and a pistol,” Clark said, adding they believe the firearms were likely stolen from the home in Centerville where the family was killed. No officers were injured.

The victims were identified as four students of the Tomball Independent School District and their grandfather, according to a letter sent to the district community by Martha Salazar-Zamora, the superintendent.

“The loss of a student, for any reason, is heartbreaking, but to lose four in such a tragic way is excruciating,” the letter said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of these beloved students and grandfather.”

Hi John,

I'm probably as concerned as you are about the continual carnage.  However, until the SCOTUS does some re-deciding or we revise the 2nd Amendment, I have doubts that anything will work.

On the other hand, if a few juries do what would be IMO, the right thing, then things might just change:  Uvalde families take first steps to possible lawsuit against gunmaker : NPR

I think they should sue every person/business in the entire chain of ownership of these weapons.

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  And, I still like Joe Weber's thoughts on taxing the holy hell out of the bullets needed to kill.

Well, that concept of firearms for home defense sure didn't work out, did it?

Hi John,

I do not have any problem with the owner of the guns being sued.

Is that the convention where firearms will be banned for certain periods....for safety.

There it is. Away from the convention their security details will allow them to believe they are safe. The private school their kids attend are secure, so that's all good too. So really this is just a parenting problem. If those mothers in Ulvade cared more for their kids they would have provided a security detail. We do not need a nanny state, we need more personal responsibility.

I’m not sure why we’re focussing on the Buffalo shooting as a gun issue. It’s actually a racism issue

Let's discuss "big city' gun violence and the what if's.  I'm from Baltimore, MD aka Bodymore, Murderland. We all know the homicides that occur there and Chicago and L.A. and ...,are 99% black on black or "gang related" or the same colored people killing each other. I bring this topic up because, IF the different minority types were directing the focus towards the "good white folk' whom visit downtown and spend there money there, well, THINGS WOULD BE DIFFERENT. Correct me when I'm wrong. "We" let it happen...

Since last Friday:

  • Three people were killed and 11 were wounded in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Police said multiple shooters fired into a crowd in the busy South Street night life area. “Once again, we see lives senselessly lost and those injured in yet another horrendous, brazen and despicable act of gun violence,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said.
  • In Tennessee, two people died from gunshot wounds and 14 were hurt at a shooting in Chattanooga. A third person died after being hit by a vehicle during the incident, police said.
  • Across the country, in Mesa, Arizona, two people were killed and two were wounded at a shooting at a bar.
  • In Phoenix, Arizona, a 14-year-old girl died and at least eight people were injured in a downtown shooting early on Saturday morning.
  • In yet another mass shooting, in Summerton, South Carolina, eight people were wounded and one was killed. Police told CNN affiliate WIS that two cars pulled into a yard where a high school graduation party was taking place. Victims ranged from 13 to 36 years old.
  • Five people were wounded at another high school graduation party in Socorro,Texas, when someone started firing into a crowd.
  • Three people were wounded and one was killed in an incident in Omaha, Nebraska.
  • In Chesterfield, Virginia: one person was killed and another five were wounded
  • And in, Macon, Georgia, three people were injured and one was killed when shots were fired in a neighborhood in Bibb County.

The arming of America and mass shootings is accelerating."while the economy is contracting, inflation is rising, and are paychecks covering less, all the talk of gun bans and regulation on all levels post-Buffalo/Uvalde is sure to keep the sales well over the million mark every month until at least November."

Only a good guy with a gun can stop a toddler with a gun.
