Another great example - induction cooking.  A (cooler) coil of wire induces eddy currents in a (warmer) metal surface, and heats it up.

Well don't stop there!

1) The microchips in my laptop are hot, but the wire from the wall is cold !

2) If you took an IR picture inside my laptop, you can see "how" the cold motherboard warms the hotter microchips. lol

There's virtually no end to this kind of sophistry.

billvon, The laser beam is not cool.

Wait a minute.  Are you claiming that photons have a temperature?  Just to be clear.

What you're suggesting is that a campfire viewed from space is proof that the cold earth is transfering heat to a satellite much hotter than the normal ~-18C Earth as viewed from space.

No, I'm not. I am just refuting your silly claim that energy only moves from hot things to cool things.

And you still think the laser is powered by the cold machine, huh? And the cold wire leading up to it? And the cold power plant on the other side of the wire?

Thermal power plants are pretty warm.  But yes to the rest of it.

The parking lot can definitely get your electric pot to boil water.

Uh - no.  Now you're into one of your crazy-straw things again.

That's not cold warming hot. That's hot warming cold

Running out of more complex words again...

You mean a triple star system were objects are within 4x size range.

And a star with "proto-planets" where all objects are within 6x size range.

That little difference of 6x vs. 4x somehow classifies it as a different thing. Yeah OK!

Um, what are you talking about? Were you counting pixels again?

Yeah she did that much earlier in the thread.

She applied the Stefan-Boltzmann equation to anything that has W/m^2 even though it's not a blackbody.

Edit: I did point out that photons don't have a temperature, their energy is measured in eV, but she ignored it (among many other things)

How long until debris activates gravity? Why not a minute before?

This is funny, where's ZP now? did she get banned?

Because coincidentally there's an article in Nature that hails the measurement of gravity of a 90-milligram gold ball: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00591-1

Nope, she did get some pushback on abusive posting, and resolved it by posting an abusive "good bye and I'm NEVER EVER coming back" post.

That's the grand trampling exit.  She'll be back; they always come back at some point.

So it was abusive enough to have to be edited out  oh well thanks for the info!

Good googaloo, man, this is nothing to waste a gloaticon on. To be edited out doesn't take being abusive, the post could merely be allusive, assholeish or it might just be Thursday. I keep all of mine in a small binder as reminders.
