It is staggering the privilege they enjoy while complaining they are victims of the system. Surely they know how heavy handed the justice system can be with everyone else - in fact they actively campaign for it to be even more heavy handed for everyone else except them.

Two recent examples come to mind - there's a video doing the media rounds of an utter moron calling into Zoom court on a driving with licence suspended charge... while driving. 30 seconds later his bail was revoked and he was ordered to report to jail that day - and it only took that long because the judge was in shock. Was it warranted? Maybe - but compare and contrast with DJTs contempt after contempt resulting in second chance after second chance.

Then one you may be aware of - two european cycling pros turned up to race a major back country event last week and the place they usually cadged food and a shower from had been demolished and they had no plan B. So they found a deserted parking lot, tried to create a car door shield and took a wild shower. Someone called the cops and they spent the night in jail. They weren't even charged with anything but hey,

vL8jyZX.jpeg

This happens every damn day, to hundreds of people. And if you're not just a glorified tourist and have a shift at work to get to? Probably not going to have that job anymore when you get out. Too bad, so sad.

All these so called patrotic Trump supporters crying over how poorly he and his cronies are treated don't even know the fucking country they live in.

In my experience, that is very true.

Trump appointee Judge Aileen Cannon continues to slow walk the documents case.  And, apparently, there's nothing anyone can do about such blatant bias.

Isn't the US grand, you even get to buy your own judge!

American exceptionalism, except like the most of our exceptions they're really not. It's just not as funny when yours is the shit hole country.

From Section 16 of the bylaws of the Vermont Republican Party: "The state committee will not support or promote any candidate for elective office who ... is a convicted felon."

Can't wait to hear about how this is really an exception, and sometimes, well, it just plain makes sense to support felons!

They're just bylaws.

They can be changed.

Or Donnie Von Schitzenpants will demand (and get) and exception.

Hadn't seen this here yet:

In yet another set of Felony Charges tied to the fake elector scheme, Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul filed charges against Jim Troupis, Trump's attorney in Wisconsin, Ken Chesebro, who's already pled guilty in Georgia, and Mike Roman, director of Election Day operations for Trump.

The person who actually delivered the fraudulent paperwork texted Roman that she 'felt like a drug dealer'.
Roman also faces charges in Georgia and Arizona.

Governor Evers had a one word statement:
"Good"
However, Senator Ron Johnson called the charges “outrageous.”

“Now Democrats are weaponizing Wisconsin’s judiciary,” Johnson posted on X. “Apparently conservative lawyers advising clients is illegal under Democrat tyranny. Democrats are turning America into a banana republic.”

Care to guess what party affiliation each one is?

Is he allowed to vote in Florida?

Technically, no.  If he is permitted to cast a ballot, however, every harassed Florida voter needs to post it all over social media alongside their stories.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am corrected.  The Florida rule is that you are only prohibited from voting in Florida if the state in which you were convicted would restrict a felon from voting.  Reportedly, New York only prohibits a felon from voting while they are incarcerated.  Had he been found guilty in a Florida court, he would be restricted from voting, as that is the Florida standard.

Also, I have learned that Trump is technically still not convicted.  He has been found guilty but is not "convicted" until he is sentenced.

The stuff you learn when you listen to podcasts with lawyers. :)

Florida allows convicted felons to vote after all sentences are completed, and all fines/payments/charges/restitutions are settled.

He has yet to be sentenced, but I seriously doubt he will have completed his legal requirements as a convicted felon will be complete in time to vote.

Except DeSantis is Governor.........and it's FloriDUH......soooo....

He received preferential treatment of the pre-sentencing meeting with his Probation Officer and only had a Zoom call. No piss test!?!?!??!!??!!?

In Florida, convicted felons are required to report IN PERSON to the local county Sheriff's Office to report as a felon living in the county. Hmmmm....wonder if that's happened yet.....

No drug test, no psychological evaluation, no nothing, and he did it by zoom with his lawyer sitting there. Even when he’s being held accountable the whole thing is a farce. He’s right about one thing, for him the rules don’t apply.

Drug testing isn't normally part of the pre-sentence investigation, unless ordered by the court.

The Project 2025 so-called platform has nothing to do with policy, it only has to do with handing all power to the executive.

This was the topic of tonight's episode of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" on HBO Max. I expect it will be posted on the show's Youtube channel in the next few days.

Power to the executive is how nations survive and nations survive by conquering other nations and taking their wealth, if history tells the truth. If current humanity survives its nascent growing pains it will consolidate under a single authority and that authority will not resemble the PTA.

The Trump co-conspirators who have been sentenced to jail with more to come.

Whoop de doodle do. Let’s jail their kids, sell their bikes, and give their pets to the shelter, too. None of that will matter if Trump skates and is elected again. Party about useless shit later.

well trump is not going to win the election, but that will not stop his efforts to undermine the country and incite violence.  It will take time but there will be thousands more people up on federal charges for 'trying to stop an election' except this time it will be for violent acts, along with the conspiracy and sedition.
