Christians who understand the ideals of Christ acting like Christians. Welcoming all immigrants.

"Each day, individuals and families seeking asylum flee their home countries to escape violence, religious persecution, and war. In an effort to respond faithfully to the needs of our siblings-in-Christ, the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas established Immigration Ministries in 2019, to distribute factual information about the ongoing humanitarian needs at its southern border and to equip congregants with resources to welcome and embrace migrants in our communities.

Immigration Ministries strives to share the realities of the migrant experience, to provide education around immigration laws and policies, to support partner organizations serving migrants in our communities, and to help individuals and Episcopal congregations walk in love as we endeavor to follow Christ and serve our neighbors."

The new hunting season is about to start. Its plaintiff lawyers going after the gun industry. Mom and pop gunstores. If there's a shooting, school-bus loads of lawyers will descend on the manufacturer, the retailer and anyone associated.

"the White House unveils six executive orders to combat gun violence and urges Congress to move on several pieces of legislation. including that gun manufacturers should not be immune from legal liability."

This will be the way to bring the gun lobby under control. "

  • President Biden said getting Congress to revoke the broad immunity that gun-makers have from being sued over shooting incidents is a top priority for his administration.
  • Most people don’t realize: The only industry in America, billion-dollar industry, that can’t be sued, exempt from being sued, are gun manufacturers,” Biden said during a White House speech on addressing gun violence."

What about that $1.9 Trillion Dollar backfire? There is yet no border or guns backfire outside of the right wing echo chamber. He hasn't yet been president for a Trump University Semester. Stay chill.

Does anyone really think corporations won’t just pass the cost of their tax increase on to consumers?

Yours is such a simple way of seeing things, really. Unless the corporation is a monopoly that cares not a whit about market share then all of the normal pricing pressures will still be in effect. You need some real world business experience where your own coin is at stake. Tax burden isn't the be all end all. For example, one corporation might see it as a market benefit, to wit, when additional costs are applied across the competitive board equally then the strongest hands will have an advantage. Let me give you a real world example you can relate to: if Part 135 was imposed on Skydiving I would win huge regardless of the additional costs. That's because I'm positioned to bear it so the gained market share would more than offset the additional costs.

Got one acronym for you....SCOTUS.  Not to mention, if history is instructive, the Ds will loose the House and Senate in the midterms.

The only thing Biden is going to accomplish is pumping more guns (especially ARs) into the hands of U.S. citizens.

And it's a damn pity that you are dispositionally unable to see the true cause. I hope you can score some more 6.5 Creedmore ammo before the hysteria is too high.

As a cautious fellow, I stocked up on the traditional high demand ammunition when the prices were low. (.22, 5.56 and 9mm) I never thought a long range cartridge like the 6.5 creedmoor would be “out of stock, no back order available”

What is the actual true cause of the guns and ammunition shortage?

Hysteria, as I already have pointed out. In this instance it is hysteria fomented by those with a financial interest. Remember when the Stiletto wasn't available without a credential? Every Johnny Jet Shoes in Skydiving just had to have one. It's just marketing Brent and you are the marketed.

That’s the thing though, nobody is marketing.  Instead the gun and ammunition manufacturers are having to defend themselves against conspiracy theories about why their products are in short supply.

Think deeper, grasshopper. Always you focus on a snap shot in time but time flows. All of time that you see today is only the accumulation of time past. Like the light from distant stars or the prospect of a visit from your mother in law, for examples.

Yep.

Were you gullible enough to believe that when Trump passed the corporate tax cuts, the companies passed those savings on in the form of lower consumer product pricing and higher wages?

You know where most of that tax cut went?  Executive bonuses and stock buybacks.  So yes, the corporations may have to pay a few million less to their top execs, or perhaps not buy back their own stock to pump up the price.  O the humanity.

I know you really want to believe that but the actual data showed that those tax cuts trickled down in the form of real wage growth and record low unemployment.  With regard to stock buybacks, corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to increase value.  Its called capitalism.

Oh Brent, why do you never check or quote facts? "From December 2016 to September 2019, nominal wages rose 6.79% from $22.83 to $24.38. But after factoring in inflation, average wages barely budged, climbing just 0.42% in the period."

Of course that doesn't factor for the massive QE( The Fed has also cut its benchmark interest rate to near zero and made sure commercial banks will continue lending to companies, cities and states—all told the extraordinary measures are expected to grow the Fed's balance sheet by $4.5 trillion this year.) that trump benefited from. In October 2020, the national debt reached a new high of $27 trillion. That's an increase of almost 36% in less than four years.

So between the FED and borrowing during the trump fiasco $15.7 trillion was pumped into the US economy. Not including corporate or consumer debt.

Yet for the four years under trump US corporations borrowed $1.55 trillion and used more than 50% of it to buy back stock. Then they came begging for bailouts. Does Boeing ring a bell?

So you believe that when Trump left office we had "record low unemployment."

You really are that gullible.

Avoiding cognitive dissonance and ignoring the $15.7 trillion in borrowing and stimulus for trump. His four year fiasco of management for Brent and his followers. Is what allows them to peek out from the rabbit holes.

Here in the UK the furlough scheme actually prevented a lot of job losses, but at the expense of a lot of borrowing.

But the fact that there's massive borrowing in the US, and a massive spike in unemployment just looks like the worst of both worlds. What was the point in borrowing then?

There is no good reason for the QE by the FED during trump. The federal debt substantially arose from tax cuts.i.e. trickle down economics. With only about $3 trillion in Covid related stimulus .

There is generally really only one reason the USA goes into massive borrowing and that is to give more money to rich people.

Capitalism is key. So you use the sentiment created by the pandemic to get massive borrowing and spending approved. Then you set up a system that delivers the majority of these funds to already very rich people. You tell the gullible that it will trickle down. Then when unemployment goes through the roof, you blame it on the pandemic, cause....duh. And the gullible will stand on their box and tell the world how great employment was.....The rich then donate to political party of choice.
