President Biden, critics corner

I might have been a bit hyperbolic with “skyrocketing” but I was just using the language of NPR.  Anyway “skyrocketing” is a totally subjective term.

Ironically I was listening to a discussion on NPR on the way home from work today and the subject was this very topic. I’m pretty sure Prius radios are designed to only play NPR but I can occasionally get some old r&b to come through if I jab the display enough. Anyway, they suggested oil prices might dip soon, perhaps briefly, but then rise again as we might expect in the northern hemisphere as we get closer to the warmer months and demand rises as people tend to travel more. I think they might have been alluding to the possible increase in production by OPEC.

https://www.npr.org/2021/03/04/973623451/opec-and-allies-keep-oil-production-steady-as-saudi-arabia-urges-caution

This is a relatively old article as far as markets are concerned but it delves into the strategy behind OPEC’s decision making about production increases. It’s interesting that although they definitely want oil prices to rise, one of their considerations is that allowing them to rise too much might result in a further push toward renewables, and a subsequent decrease in demand that would have the opposite effect.

Ironically, today's republicans would consider Reagan a left wing, gun grabbing, illegal-immigrant-loving Hollywood liberal.

Please be honest, How would Regan describe todays neoliberal progressive democrats.

More than one Conservitive didn't vote Trump the first time, because "he wasn't conservative enough" but trumps policies changed his mind.

I don't think you'd recognize a Conservative if it bit you in the ass.

Let's have some fun today and compare 15 word axioms of Binden to Reagans.

"Are you sure you are the progressives?  Because a lot of what you want sounds like . . . what I want.  I'd be springing kids from cages.  I'd be trying to reduce spending.  I'd also be leading America to fight COVID as hard as we could. I signed legislation to ban open carry in California.  Heck, I supported the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban!"

"And you neoliberals.  You are for privatization?  Deregulation?  Free trade?  Less government spending?  You sound like .. . me!"

"But tell me about these conservatives and this guy Trump.  Did he follow conservative principles?  Did he reduce the debt?  Did he respect the rule of law?  Did he treat women and minorities with respect?  Did he extend amnesty to illegal aliens?"

Oh, we have plenty of examples right here.  Our very own RonD1120 was a certified, Qanon believing, religious right conservative who regularly went after the evil communist socialist progressive democrats.  Even said they were in league with Satan.

Most, of course, are a lot more moderate than that - but he's a good example of how far right the right extends these days.

Over the past 40 years or so, both the conservatives and the liberals have moved right.  Ron is a good example of how far the right has moved.  I am sure that if the attempted insurrection on Jan 6th had succeeded, and the rioters had killed Pelosi, Pence and Schumer (for example) he would be justifying it all to "save democracy."  Meanwhile, neoliberals are pushing privatization, deregulation, globalization, free trade, austerity and reductions in government spending.

Damn Bill you can type fast. I find it laborious.

You listed one,Ron. the exception, not the rule.

How many here prescribed to the Blue Anon conspiracy theories. Trump called Nazis fine people, he's a RRrussian asset, he's compromised, ect...

Dear God, you actually believe the body politic in this country has moved Right?

Now, I understand your angst.

Have some serenity in knowing that I believe the very opposite is true.

You listed one,Ron. the exception, not the rule.

On Jan 6th of this year, around ten thousand people attended a rally in DC then stormed the Capitol.  These were, of course, the extreme of the extremes - the people who not only believed as Ron did, but had the money, determination, and free time to travel to DC.  And they were not just hapless otherwise-good conservatives who got caught in something they didn't understand until later.  There was a gallows built and on display during the rally.  There were regular chants of "take the Capitol", "Invade the Capitol" and "Storm the Capitol."  Those people knew exactly what was going to happen - and they decided to stay.

And while these were the extremes, they were backed up by the tens of millions of less extreme Americans like Ron who believed Qanon - that the election had been stolen, that the left was carting in fake ballots by the truckload, that Dominion was discarding votes for Trump, that Biden could not have possibly won since no one went to his rallies, that the media was inflating COVID to make it look like a pandemic just to make Trump look bad.

So no, Ron is not an exception.  Ron is a more MODERATE Republican - one who did not storm the Capitol, shit on the floor, vandalize and loot, and kill and assault cops.  He just believed all that stuff.  As Trump supporters go, he is mainstream.  And like it or not, Trump supporters are the bulk of the conservative party.

And so yes, the country has moved right.  What even you consider to be an extremist is now a mainstream republican.  What was once considered mainstream and centrist - like amnesty for illegals, or banning assault weapons - is now something only a communist wacko gun-hating lefty (like Reagan) would propose.

In your effort to be concise you omitted the increased actions of republicans to destroy democracy through the vote. To defeat freedom by stealing the vote from anyone who isn't republican. You don't need a gun to overthrow democracy and government. Just steal the election, as all power will flow to the thief.

Wow I had to turn off the TV after Biden lost his train of thought the third time during his press conference.  It went from funny to embarrassing to sad. Can anyone say President Harris?

that was the plan the entire time .. so much for conspiracy theory.

remember the 25th and how they wanted to use against Orange man? and since they complete thrashed the impeachment integrity by using it for political purpose,Well Sir, it's quite left.

Your fortitude in "skyrocketing gas/oil"  a joke within its $elf.

You are aware that Trump actually said 'there are very fine people on both sides' in reaction to the Charlottesville KKK/Nazi rally, right?

You are aware that Trump basically kissed Putin's ass for 4 years, right? That Putin put in a lot of work to get Trump elected and re-elected?
I've seen a few claims that Trump was actually compromised by the Russians. Not sure any of it is for real. But Trump himself said that his golf courses were paid for by Russian money. The chances that Trump has been laundering money for the Russian mob are pretty good.
Trump certainly did all he could to coddle Putin, reduce the sanctions on Russia and generally let Putin get away with anything he did.

Trump gave the Ukrainians Javelin anti tank missiles, Obama gave them blankets.  Obama gave the Russians a pass in Syria, Trump killed them.

Trump pulled US forces out of Syria and allowed the Russians and Syrians to kill our 'allies', the Kurds.
Trump tried to pull US forces out of Germany. The only people who thought that was a good idea was...
The Russians.

I was going to nuke you, But for the sake of unity. "God Bless you son, No purgatory for you."

Do you realize there were four groups? legal protesters, both for and against, right extremist and Lt.extremists.

Read the transcript. Watch the speech unedited. Pay particular attention to the propaganda trick of the cut, then, what you didn't hear,"I'm not talking about the white nationalist or the neo nazis they should be condemned, totally."

These are the useful idiots I was referring to, not those unable to here it, but  those that were unwilling to.Lastly just out of common sense,Isn't his kids or grandkids Jews? now isnt that redunkulous.

In fact,Trump kicked NATO in the Ass, got them to pay their bills and increase defense spending, while being less dependent on the US. Sounds alot like what I had to do for one of my kids,LOL The Eastern Europeans knew Trump had their backs.

One promise kept "No New Wars"

I think we should try to find a way to talk about criticizing Biden in this thread sometime soon. I just looked at the thread title and asked myself "How did we get here"?

We will call it the Biden plan.

Like a dystopian novel "build backwards better."

The cartels sell wrist bands, they only cost everything to separate you from your kids, if you really want them back,  you get indentured servitude, like the happiest place on earth  fn Disneyland down here.

Here's what Sidney Powell's attorneys had to say about those "voter fraud" claims that you believe:

"Such characterizations of the [claims of voter fraud] further support Defendants' position that reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact . . .No reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact."

you live in Socal you know the fraud in Motor Voter registration fiasco, not to mention billions wasted out of the EDD.

Who the hell is this one man Sidney?

Is he going to start a special commission like the Trump/Russian investigations? Because  dead people voted and bogus addresses were used, don't you want to know?

If you are worried about an insurrection shouldn't voter integrity be addressed in earnest.
