a lot actually.  he could have changed, but from the article and denying it ever happened, didn't.  i would never trust him again NOT to be a rat.  and now due to his own admissions, i would never believe he is telling the truth, unless he proved a change rather well in the future. 

this is hard to clarify. 

the reason this guy is always a rat is that he has shown that he still lies, as he did in the article when he said he had never been a rat.  anyone else would get a fair shot also, based on their actions now, not their past.  people can change, or they can stay the same.  everyone should be judged on a case by case basis, not as a group.  i know lots of criminals who came out of jail and didn't go back or do anything illegal again.  i also know lots who did, or didn't change at all. 

you guys need to realize that there is no black and white in real life, or very few instances.  i can have the view i stated without contradicting myself.  this guy was and always will be a rat.  he would have to prove it awfully thoroughly if he ever does change. 

i guess i need to clarify my last thought also.  if you think in black and white, i am done here.  i have no time for that type of disability.

So when someone is a criminal, we have to assume they could have changed, but when someone is a criminal who hekped bring other criminals to justice - well then he needs to prove to you that he's changed otherwise you'll never trust him ever?

It seems odd that those are the order of your priorities.

you need to rethink you're reading comprehension.  i never once said anything about criminals or anyone else, just this guy, in this situation.  i'm not at odds with anything, and you can play all the word games you want, but that changes nothing. 

i did not make a black and white statement, i said that if you think in black and white i don't have time for you.  that has nothing to do with one or the other, it has to do with my limits of engagement with close-minded people.  the thing i like most about this place is the differing views i get. 

there are very few people who think like me, and even fewer who have the kind of patience to explain it.  i can have some seemingly contradictory views, but i assure you, it is the result of years of experience with people of all classes, mostly shady people.  lots of statements can be black and white, most have exceptions though.  one i can think of with none is child porn.  not many that i can't excuse, but this is one.  even that has extenuating circumstances though and should never have a zero tolerance with no exception policy.

No, you said 'Once a rat, always a rat'. You can play all the word games you want, but that is a black and white statement. I can accept that you have no clarified that you didn't mean it to be black and white, however you really should then rethink your black and white stance of having no time for anyone who you think has made a single black and white statement, don't you think?

I can find fault with this. I do sometimes post topics, but because they'd usually be about UK politics no-one really cares. However, if you are being honest instead of just trying to find fault with how I post you'd admit that I do post and defend my political opinions on a regular basis.
