displaced fracture & Neural Foraminal Narrowing

Recommended Posts

Hey broken back club members......

Has anyone had any experiences with displaced fractures ad neural foraminal narrowing? I got an MRI and CT scan today and the report says I have a displaced pelvic fracture which is causing moderate S1 neural foraminal narrowing. I had constant left foot pain a few weeks ago and it seems like the narrowing is the reason. But the weird thing is, the constant pain disappeared later and right now there is only tingling in my left foot at times. (Which is a good thing I guess?) I talked to my surgeon and he was very certain that I would be okay. (Bruh) And I got a second opinion from another doctor whom was not so sure.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences with me!

i haven't had a pelvic fracture, but a few years ago one of my lumbar discs herniated / displaced. It was very painful for a few days, then moderately painful for a few weeks, then settled down to a numbness in my left leg / foot that is still there and may be there for the rest of my life. The neurosurgeon said if i can live with it it is not worth the surgery. Not sure what sharing that is useful for.

Like SethinMI,

I have suffered two herniated discs in my lumbar spine. I tried to ignore pain in my left leg for three weeks, but when my left calf muscle cramped up solid, I discussed it with a doctor. Fortunately the doctor was a sports medicine specialist who diagnosed the problem as a pinched sciatic nerve.

To this day, I have to do a regular series of sit-ups and stretches to keep my lumbar spine in correct alignment.
