Full face helmets without visors

Question

Hello,

as a new skydiver in the sport I am thinking to buy my own equipment. Regarding helmets, my federation requires 100 jumps to fly with a closed helmet (with a closed visor). However it’s allowed to jump with a full face helmet without a visor on it. I was wondering if it was possible to remove the visor on the g3,g4 or the kiss helmet, and what do experienced skydivers recommend to new rookies. Which is the best skydiving helmet?

Thanks and blue skies,

nico

You should be able to remove the visor on any full face helmet.

With a few caveats, they're all pretty good.

The biggest difference is how they fit.

For many folks, one brand fits more comfortably and better than another.

It's a matter of matching the shape of the helmet to the shape of their head.
It's a very individual preference.

The only way to know for sure is to try a bunch of different ones on.

Talk to your local tandem instructors because many of them wear full-face helmets - minus the visor - after getting hit in the chin too many times.

If I was buying a helmet, I'd want something that actually offers protection.

ALSO, TRY ONE ON FIRST. Fly before you buy ;)
