I think he truly believes there was fraud.

Seriously? Then you believe the guy you knew, and wanted to be President, is either crazy or capable of self delusion to a point that is indistinguishable from crazy. Knowing that you voted for him anyway?

So you are ok with a President that is that out of touch with reality?

Personally I am sort of OK with it given that he will be gone in less than two months.  We can probably survive without a sane leader for that long.  Sucks for the people who are going to die from COVID though.  Too bad Pence doesn't have the balls to proceed with an Section 4 solution.

Well, part of the problem with that is that 70 million people were apparently ok with 4 more years of it.

And this is not new. It's just further confirmation of how insane he really is.

Sure he does. It’s not possible that he’s lying. He’s not ever been known to lie.

I believe airdvr, and others here, are skirting the truth. By that I mean saying out loud why they were willing to inflict 4 more years of Trump on the nation: short term monetary gain for themselves. They figured Trumps policies would put more coin in their pockets. I don't buy for a silly second any other reasons.

I disagree.

Many were conned into believing the idea that Biden would bring 'socialism'.
Or that he'd raise taxes.

Some were stupid enough to believe the "Soros is going to take over the entire world" crap or the "Q" garbage.

Some were gullible enough to think that his 'strong' behaviors were a good thing.
That treating others badly is a way to show how strong one is, and that strength is admirable.

Some were still foolish enough to think he was an 'outsider' who would change how Washington operated. He did, but not in a good way.

Some bought into his racist and xenophobic garbage. They wanted more of it.

In part, the fact that so many Trump supporteres deny reality and think there was widespread voter fraud tells you both how effective of a con man he is and how gullible and stupid his supporters are.

I disagree. More money would have caused them to look straight past any issue you raised. Just to look at one, I don't think any of them would give a rat's ass about immigration if they though illegals put more money in their pockets. Like Trump, they are transactional at their very cores. That's why his take what you can get and fuck everyone else schtick resonates with them.

I may have phrased that a bit poorly.

I'm not saying the money in the pocket making them overlook all the other shit is not an issue.

Not even saying it's not a major issue.

But it's not the only one.

The Trump Cult is pretty strong.

He's a hell of a good con man.

I've seen a lot of folks who aren't going for him because of the money issue.
They actually believe his shit.

Alright, maybe I pressed my point a touch too far. I agree that there are a lot of racist, homophobic, misogynistic, isolationist, conspiracy theory believing and generally not too bright people who love him for their own personal reasons, whatever those reasons may be. I also believe each and every one of them is for sale for a small handful of coins.

Hi Joe,

I have only one friend who is a Trump supporter.  He has about $500,000 in the stock market.  His whole thing is that Trump got the market to rise => he's happy.

I know quite a few; a couple of them quite well. Without the religious aspect, what Ron describes about tribalism being important, and loyalty, and hewing to a “we’re from the country and we stick together” mindset. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask either of them for virtually any size favor, and have taken both up on offers of hospitality. I’m willing to discuss politics with either of them (as long as alcohol isn’t involved — then it gets dogmatic). They both respect me, and I respect them (but push back a lot on politics — nope, don’t respect that piece, but they do have a right to their opinion). I probably push them a lot harder than they push me.
So knowing them makes it hard to dismiss folks. I’ve known both of them for over 40 years.

There is a person I trust implicitly who is a Trump supporter. Multiple 6 figure deals on a hand shake or less. I know where he is coming from and he knows where I'm coming from. We don't dance around it. Trust follows truth.
