Phil1111 908 #1 Posted November 10, 2020 Boris Johnson suffered a return to reality in the House of Lords over his plans to breach international law on Brexit. Perhaps his promises, b.s.,Brexit lies and populist agenda will finally bite him in the ass. Now he'll never be a match for trump. But he's making an honest effort. jakee 1,254 #2 November 10, 2020 Yep, he is a buffoonish populist who is doing untold damage to the country which will continue to be felt for decades to come. But at least we have a system that stops him from being able to unilaterally do absolutely anything he wants to in terms of foreign policy.

kallend 1,621 #4 November 10, 2020 The 2016 vote that put Trump in office has now been rectified. The 2016 vote for brexit will be much more problematical.

Now that Biden has won, I'm hoping that the shapeshifting creep isn't brave enough to forge ahead with breaking the Good Friday Agreement, but if he's stupid enough, he might still be able to earn the title The Last Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Are you saying Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales might each go their own way?

In this pandemic we've seen Scotland, NI and Wales go their own way and use their devolved powers to respond to the virus differently. People have watched as the First Ministers showed more competence than mini-Trump who kept doing U-turn after U-turn, protecting his friends and spending billions down the drain. He's even managed to piss off the north of england, with the mayor of Manchester being called the "King of the North" in his dispute against the government. The mayor of nearby Liverpool blames Boris' bungled response for the death of his brother due to covid-19. With the economy on its knees, the nail in the coffin will be a disastrous Brexit. With mini-Trump dancing on the cliff edge, it's only a matter of time. Edited November 10, 2020 by olofscience

Is there any movement afoot for NI to leave the UK and join Ireland?

That was pretty much the reason for all the violence before, and what the Good Friday Agreement was designed to stop. It's a truce between the Unionists (pro UK) and Republicans (wanting to join the Republic of Ireland). I'm sure you've heard of the IRA? In the 2014 independence referendum the fact that a newly independent Scotland wouldn't automatically be a part of the EU was a major factor in turning the vote towards staying in the UK. Now that the rest of the UK is leaving the EU anyway I think the SNP have a strong case for pushing for IndyRef 2, and there's a decent chance they'd win it.
