Yolodan 0 #1 May 18, 2017 I am new to jumping. I just got my container in today. Its a Wings2. The main im going to be jumping with is a 230. But the reserve says 218 low bulk:235 and I don't know what that means. could someone explain please. I bought the one from skydive store.com it was the used blue and mulitcam one that's still on their site. its been there forever.
davenuk 7 #2 May 18, 2017 speak to your instructors at the DZ. low pack volume means the canopy folds up smaller so you can get a bigger canopy in the same size container. see above
Pobrause 6 #3 May 18, 2017 There are different materials parachute manufacturers can build their canopies with. Some are thicker/normal "f111"/ZP, some are thinner and have less bulk/ pack volume. So in a reserve tray that normaly fits a 218 you can also fit a 235 reserve with lower packvolume. Bigger canopy generaly means more safety, thats why many people go for a low pack volume reserve. Lpv reserves and mains tend to be more expensive, though. Examples for them are PD Optimum, Icarus Nano, Paratec Speed 2000, Aerodyne Smart LPV...------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
