You think the NYP is lying?

I wonder how much fact checking, and limiting of the spread of the story, would be going on if the news broke and it was Trump's name in the headline.

I guess I'm not the only one wondering.

Ok, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The FBI seized Hunter Biden's laptop a while back.

There have been several career intelligence specialists who testified under oath before congress that the whole Biden/Ukraine story is Russian propaganda.

Now, less than a month before the election, Rudy Giuliani (the president's personal lawyer) is saying that there's evidence of some sort of crime.

Nobody but the Post (owned by Rupert Murdoch) has published this.

Barnum was right.

I did say it was suspicious.  The timing is understandable for a gotcha moment.

I guess we'll see.

The responses are interesting though.

Do you have any other actual sources than nypost which posted the initial unverified story anyway?

And no, please not the Daily Mail.

Sources?  Like as in does someone else have hard drive?  No.Well, the FBI.

But they can "Neither confirm, nor deny" the investigation.

Would you expect the post to just give up its prize like that?

There is possibly a lot more news in that drive.

That is all assuming that the drive is legitimate. I still have skepticism.

Interesting how you have already assumed anything in that story is true.

But . . . his emails  . . . .

Trumpies were desperate for an October surprise.  But this seems to be . . . less than nothing.  As far as I can tell, at worst, Biden's son introduced Biden to a guy in Russia.  Compared to owing Russia $300 million, this is news?

Its amazing that Murdoch can generate such trolling and SC's trolling enabler can solicit such response. If any of this including Hillary's e-mails has any substance Barr would have been after it like trump's propensity to grab pussy.

Barr, Barr, baaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr and the US DOJ can't find squat. So Murdoch and FOX are at it again. After all its only 98 days until trump can be served as a ordinary citizen.

I've felt all along that there had to some reason for Burisma to pay Hunter Biden that kind of money.  If that isn't for lobbying I can't imagine what else it might be for.

Maybe "that kind of money" is out of your range of understanding. Sometimes when you are in serious play a big payday is on offer. Just saying.

And for all that money Joe Biden got the prosecutor that was ignoring Burisma fired. And in return got a prosecutor who did investigate Burisma.

That’s some really sketchy stuff. Should definitely get a legally blind Delaware laptop repair shop to look into that!

Up to $50K a month?  That's less than what a LOT of board members make.

P. Roy Vagelos - on the board of Regeneron pharmaceuticals - $525K a month
Samuel Zell - board of Equity Lifestyle Properties - $330K a month
William P. Foley - board of Fidelity National - $142K a month

I found 25 board members making more than Hunter Biden after ten seconds of searching.

It's a non story.  I know all Trump supporters desperately want an October surprise, but this ain't it.  Especially when Eric Trump has bragged that he has "all the funding we need out of Russia", Russians funnelled $100 million into Trump properties in Florida  and Trump owes $300 million to them.  Compared to that, Hunter Biden getting paid up to $600K a year to work as a board member for Burisma is less than nothing.

For spreading the nonsense Kayleigh Goebbels was sanctioned by Twitter and the post was removed.

I guess you'll see what, Hunter Biden's sex tape? Not only would that be irrelevant to the campaign and a disgusting hatchet job, in many civilised countries it would be illegal to release without consent.

You REALLY don't know how journalism works (or rather, should work)

No, I expect them to allow other journalists, fact checkers, and experts to confirm the story, like how a Fox News journalist confirmed the Atlantic's story about Trump calling dead soldiers "suckers" and "losers".

Posts like Turtle's are actually banned on Facebook and Twitter. That dz.com allowed him to post it is already quite lenient.

Why should I give this any more credence than:

Mexico will pay for the Wall

Fifteen cases, soon to be zero

Obama was born in Kenya

Windmills cause cancer

Article II allows me to do whatever I want

No-one knows more about <whatever> than me

And some 20,000 other lies from this administration?

Please define how Hunter is in "serious play" except for having chosen the right parents.

Wasn't it the noise of windmills that cause the cancer?

‘I never understood wind’: Trump goes on bizarre tirade against wind turbines

Someone could try to explain to trump how air flows from high pressure systems to low pressure systems. But that would be a waste of time since he can't seem to understand anything science related.

Why do you need an 'except for'? His dad is his dad. If Burisma want to pay him for that no-one can stop them.

Since there has been zero evidence or suggestion that Joe Biden has done or said anything to encourage Burisma to pay him that money I fail to see how any of it is relevant.

"But they’re manufactured tremendous if you’re into this, tremendous fumes. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything."

Sounds like he's up to speed to me. I mean, the world is smaller than the universe.

You missed the point which, to press the point, was that you were missing the point. Look at your response: I put "that kind of money" in quotes and you respond by putting "serious play" in quotes. Not my point. Serious play, as I posed it, was simply a way of describing a level of business where compensation becomes disconnected from an hourly rate or specific commission. There are many reasons, ranging from innocuous to nefarious, why someone might get "that kind of money" for filling a position. Obviously, if you can, you really want to get "that kind of money".

The reality is that for most folks hearing a number like $50K a month means that something shifty is going on because no one is worth that much. Another reality is that the reason might be something as simple as the company executives knowing that board members making $10K per month for doing nothing are unlikely to vote them pay packages of $100,000 per month for doing nothing.

Sure who you know gets you places and creates opportunities. That's just how business works. Yes, board member compensation is smarmy but in most cases it's like looking under the bed for monsters. You know it's there but when you stop being afraid and take a look there are no monsters. Some people, like Ron, will never believe there were no monsters under the bed. For sure they snuck into the closet or the basement or are on a plane to Benghazi. For them, no proof will never equal no monsters.

How is that different from many other people? Not sure how Trump supporters can be upset Hunter Biden may have been helped by his Dad's position.
