Trump Tests Positive for Covid-19

No one could have seen everyday of the next 4 years coming but a lot of us had strong suspicions that catastrophe would follow his election.

On the day Trump was elected, Gayla at Adventure Books of Seattle was really upset. Well, she was going for Clinton of course. Okay...

So I tell her, "Well, as long as he doesn't trash the economy or start World War 3, it will be okay. How bad can he be?"

Yeah. Right. 9_9 Well at least he hasn't started WW3 yet, and fortunately he's running out of time to do that.

His own doctor issued a statement about it, and even if Trump chose to lie about this or that, it is doubtful his doctor would verify his infection unless it were true. His doctor is a US Navy officer, folks.

While Trump's infection is prbably true, it's worth pointing out that his US Navy doctor has just admitted lying to the public about his treatment.

They have the In-Case-The-President-Checks-in-Here stuff going. Special office, facilities for him, etc. That's what I've heard anyway. Don't take that as gospel.

When Reagan was shot, HE went to GW University Hospital...

Walter Reed is the 'preferred' medical facility for the president.  They have a special suite of rooms set aside. There have been multiple stories about it in the past couple days.

The Secret Service took Reagan to GWU because:

1 - It was closest. They know exactly where all the hospitals along any route they take are located. This is SOP since Kennedy.

2 - They knew he was seriously injured once he started coughing up significant amounts of blood.

Going anywhere else probably would have cost Reagan his life.

A friend sent thoughts and  a prayer from the Bible

Psalm 109:8-13

New American Standard Bible

8 Let his days be few;
Let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless
And his wife a widow.
10 Let his children wander about and beg;
And let them seek sustenance [a]far from their ruined homes.
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has,
And let strangers plunder the product of his labor.
12 Let there be none to [c]extend lovingkindness to him,
Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be [d]cut off;
In a following generation let their name be blotted out.

Apparently he's been given dexamethasone.  Infer what you will from that.

https://www.wkbn.com/news/what-is-dexamethasone-what-we-know-about-trumps-latest-treatment/

Dexamethasone and similar steroids now are known to improve survival when used in hospitalized patients who need extra oxygen. It can be harmful for less sick patients, according to medical experts.

..

Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist and health economist, tweeted Sunday that the use of dexamethasone is a sign for concern.

“I think we need to trust not their words but trust the signals of what drugs they have given Trump. Dexamethasone use clearly puts Trump as now a SERIOUS #COVID19 patient based on WHO guidelines for use of this drug,” wrote Feigl-Ding. “No way to justify mild to moderate case anymore.”

Some medical experts, like CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, have raised concerns the president may have developed pneumonia. Trump physician, Navy Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley, did not directly answer a question about whether Trump has pneumonia.

Oral dexamethasone has been shown to reduce the length of hospital stays and ICU admissions in adults with respiratory issues like pneumonia. :

That fucking selfish childish prick of an asshole POTUS jerk just made the secret service take him for a spin in a limo so that he could wave at his adoring people.

Well, I'm still not certain that he even has the virus, so there is that.

Sounds like you’re part of his demographic then.

You're new here, aren't you?

The doubt of his illness is related to whether it's Trump's idea of an October Surprise. It's looking less and less likely, because too many people would have to be involved now, but it's kind of telling that it was a consideration

"Mary Trump, told NPR that her uncle, currently hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19, was brought up to view sickness as “unacceptable” and a “weakness.”

Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, told the network that the president and his father Fred viewed illness as “unacceptable… which sounds incredibly cruel, but happens to be true.”

She pointed to how her father Fred Jr.’s alcoholism was received, telling NPR: "In my family, [it] was treated like a moral failing.”

"That's why [the U.S. is] in the horrible place we're in, because he cannot admit to the weakness of being ill or of other people being ill," she added.".

So if trump recovers his diagnosis will just be another political football to be used to endanger the health of all Americans. If a fat 74 year old man can recover whats the big deal! Covid is all just a big Dem scam to ruin his presidency. His base will flood the bars and restaurants to toast and celebrate his virility.

Nobody knew that telling the truth could be so complicated:

  • The president’s physician, Sean Conley, acknowledged on Sunday that the president had in fact been given oxygen days earlier, saying he had intentionally given misleading statements about the president’s health the day before to avoid causing alarm.
  • “I was trying to reflect the upbeat attitude that the team, the president, that his course of illness, has had,” Conley said. “In doing so, you know, it came off that we were trying to hide something, which wasn’t necessarily true.”
  • Conley also walked back statements from the day before about the president’s diagnosis timeline. On Saturday, he had said the president was “72 hours into the diagnosis,” suggesting that the president would have tested positive on Wednesday — just a day after he had shared the stage with Joe Biden at the first presidential debate, and more than one full day before he announced the positive test results.

How would we know the difference?

The curse "may you live in interesting times" is also often attributed to the Chinese. But it's origin story is even more vague than that of the virus.

I'd be more concerned with the VIP effect, where they throw every treatment they can at someone to prove they are being thorough.

One of the problems with dexamethazone is that it operates by reducing inflammation, specifically the transport of white blood cells to an area of infection.  Inflammation is one of the many parts of the innate (general) immune system used as a first line of defense against pathogens.  By limiting the response of the innate immune system you limit the body's ability to fight disease.  If the inflammatory response is going to put you at risk, it is of course a good idea to limit it.  But for someone who is not at risk it can be counterproductive - and can make the disease more severe.

So either he's sicker than anyone has let on - or they are being overly aggressive because he's the president.

So turns out Trump was diagnosed early Thursday evening - but went to a FOX News interview anyway.  Once he received the positive results, he told an aide "don't tell anyone" before heading out for the interview.

Who could possibly have seen that coming when the WH were clearly obfuscating the timeline.

The chaos, incompetence and dishonesty characterising their handling of the Trump outbreak is almost a perfect microcosm of his entire administration.

Doctors are so stupid, science even more stupid.

trump's latest tweet:

"I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"

Amazing!, to trump you get covid and a week later feel 20 years younger. Too bad about those bone spurs or he could jog down Pennsylvania Ave and get congress back on trump-track.

I'll hold onto to my celebratory bottle of scotch for a while longer.
