Anyone here into drones? Do I have to register my drone?

Only if you want to fly it and it weighs more than 250 grams.

A more easily understood article is here.

An amusing video I found yesterday from Casey Neistat: DJI introduced a drone that weighs 249g expressly for the purpose of staying under the FAA rule (mentioned in Kallend's link):

It still has to be registered under part 107 if it's being used for any commercial purpose that  "furthers your business" - even monetized youtube videos.

The mavic mini is impressive for it's size, but the side by side video comparison to the mavic pro 2 is a bit misguided.

First, it appears he's shooting the mavic 2 pro in D-Cinelike mode which is a flat color, log profile that maximizes dynamic range for higher detail specifically meant for post processing and color grading - not for out of camera comparisons.

Second, He could've either manually adjusted the settings or set it to HDR  (neither of which are available on the mavic mini - nor does it have autonomous tracking) that would've blown the mavic mini away.  It's very odd to me that someone who's apparently won cinematography awards doesn't seem to be aware of that, and then seems dumbfounded by why the mavic mini doesn't "cannibalize" DJI's higher end drones.

Oh well.
