Lockdown mental health and domestic violence

Recommended Posts

One side effect of this lock down world wide is a deterioration of mental health. I know that for many people I am close to it is having a negative effect (including myself).

My sister also shared some statistics (not sure if they’re accurate) about a rise in domestic violence. This makes total sense and I can see it being difficult in isolation for troubled relationships.

Hypochondriasis is a psychiatric disorder in which you believe yourself to be ill despite not being ill.  Hence you actually ARE mentally ill, so you don't have hypochondriasis after all.  In which case your belief is unfounded, and you do have hypochondriasis which is a psychiatric disorder in which you believe . . . . . . ..

Repeat.

I'm sure there will be a population boom. And our local newspaper and radio shows are actively publicizing domestic violence hotline numbers.

My wife’s psychologist asked about us and how we are doing. It is something that we talk about a lot as both of us came out of abusive relationships (not all abusers are men).

Its funny for us it is currently a bit of a honeymoon as such. Been together 3 years, got married 2 months ago.

But it is a big concern and must be scary. I’ve seen the Facebook memes of women digging in the garden etc (where is your husband, oh about where you are standing). I don’t enjoy that humour

" There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions."
