trump to Ease Restrictions and FOX News Agrees

Recommended Posts

Coming soon to a state near you. The economy trumps coronavirus.Donald trump, FOX news and the republican party will soon start to start discussion that some dead Americans is ok as long as the economy is restarted. FOX news will soon begin to shape the discussion.

“WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF,” Mr. Trump tweeted in all capital letters shortly before midnight. “AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!”

'Dr. Anthony Fauci, an infectious diseases expert and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, has said in interviews that he believed that it would take several more weeks until people can start going about their lives in a more normal fashion. Other infectious disease experts suggest even harsher measures than social distancing are required to truly beat back the outbreaks in the United States."

Yet experts all agree that in order to end the spread in the US " Americans must be persuaded to stay home, they said, and a system put in place to isolate the infected and care for them outside the home. Travel restrictions should be extended, they said; productions of masks and ventilators must be accelerated, and testing problems must be resolved. "

Coming in the next two weeks or so at 6 P.M., only on FOX news. "Its time for America to go back to work".Steve Hilton: Flatten the coronavirus curve, but not the economy, before it's too late "The Dems want to take the whole year off work". Ooops Its started already!

I am somewhat amused to hear people talking about going back to normal to ease the  economic pain. Obviously those people don’t have family working in healthcare. They also don’t seem to grasp what the panic that will go through the population if this thing is just allowed to run rampant will do to the economy.

Just biting the bullet and getting it over with is not a realistic strategy for limiting the damage. The damage will be worse in the end.

Your fascination with a reaction to trump is noted. It shouldn’t take coronavirus to see that Trump is evil. Evil is evil does, and he has done a lifetime of evil.

But I’m not sure why you hijacked his post in order to talk about Trump

Your defense of Trump is touching.

(Now quick!  Claim "but I don't support him!")

First of all - the "15 day period" is nothing more than a period of suggestions to work from home and avoid large groups, which most people (in states without mandatory requirements) are ignoring.  So it's not even close to a "cure."

Secondly, we are just hitting the steep part of the curve.  Isolation should have started weeks ago.  Keeping people inside for two weeks, then releasing them during the time of most rapid increase in cases, is nuts.

If the goal is to reduce the death toll, then shut down businesses until the new-infection rate starts to decline.   Then reopen, preferably with people who have had it already (which confers some immunity.)  Then when it starts to increase again - shut down again for anyone who has not had it.  Keep doing this until the total infections hit about 50%, at which case any new infections will find it harder to spread.

You'd think we'd stop going to Trump to solve every problem...

Wouldn't that be novel?

Agree " “In one week we need to be heading back to work, school, stores, restaurants and churches with new protocols in place,” Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted. “The risk if we don’t is that we lose far more in terms of death, pain and suffering than this pandemic will bring.” Larry Kudlow, the White House’s top economic adviser, .. “We can’t shut in the economy,” he said on Fox News. “The economic cost to individuals is just too great.”

"Sources close to the Trump administration described ... “I think there’s a recognition that there needs to be some sort of medium between listening to the doctors and listening to other experts as well,” The experts being economists which will advise trump about the cost of body bags for elderly people. As compared to eradicating the virus like every other country in the world is doing.

Meanwhile Canadians and Mexicans are celebrating that the respective borders have been closed. For elderly Americans fleeing the upcoming trumpdemic. Coronavirus: Closing Canada’s border to refugees violates international law, experts say   Just go for it. Better to be a refugee with free health care. Than be buried just to help a president lose reelection.

Trump says he wants the country 'opened up and just raring to go by Easter,' despite health experts' warnings    Which would be 19 days from today.

"Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, speaking at a congressional hearing on Thursday, said predictions based on models should be treated with caution. “All models are as good as the assumptions that you put into the model,” ... What will determine the ultimate number, he said, “will be how you respond to it with containment and mitigation.”

Nineteen days preceded by a hodgepodge mishmash of containment measures.

Someone told him that the economy had to be back by Easter or he wouldn’t be re elected. So there’s no loss to him — he does it and it works, great. He doesn’t do it, no recovery, he’s not re elected. He does it and it doesn’t work, he’s not re elected, so no difference, because he doesn’t see the general loss as being less significant than his re election.

It’s the same thought process as the lottery’s “you can’t win if you don’t play”

I think it is more that somebody told him that his properties are now closed and he needs to get people out and about so they can open and make money.

States reject Trump calls to reopen economy by Easter

"Democratic and Republican governors, as well as local officials, are pushing back against President Trump's signals that he wants to restart the economy by Easter, warning that ending strict social distancing practices could put millions of lives at risk. "

In the next days trump's new hire economists will weigh in.

The whole thing about Easter is a Pipe Dream and a "Wish", designed to give the people some hope.

A goal - but an unreachable goal, at best . . . a white lie at worst.  I'm pretty sure he knows that, too.

Pretty sure he doesn't think that far ahead, and the #1 thing foremost in his mind, whenever he is speaking, is "what will this do to my ratings?"  Plenty of examples of both in the past.

Thanks to federalism, Trump really doesn't have a say in what states do.

Other than a small band of truly ignorant people, no-one gives any credibility to anything he says.
