And Airdvr, welcome to the land of socialism as well.

We've been semi-socialist since the depression.  I just don't want to go full ret*#d.  ANd, thanks for the respect, but my handle doesn't start with a capital letter.

Well, good on you for taking another step towards it, then.  Let's hope you keep this in mind when you are tempted to start another anti-socialism rant; would be good to keep in mind that that would be a little hypocritical.

Joe, just what do you think the rich folks do with their money?  They sure don't put in a giant vault like Scrooge McDuck, and swim in it.

They buy a second house.  Helps the builders

Buy a car.  Helps the car workers

Go on vacation.  Helps the travel industry

Go out to eat. Benefits cooks, waitresses, bar tenders, etc

Except you don't need that much money to buy a second house, or car, or vacation, or to go to a restaurant. You need to be well off, but not rich. I mean, how many restaurants can you get into once you've made your second billion that don't return your calls if you've only got one?

In the real world outside of your Republican trickle down wet dream, hoarding money is exactly what rich people are doing. Not only is wealth being increasingly concentrated in the hands of the uber rich, the excess wealth they have is increasingly being kept inert as liquid cash. Completely removed from the economy, doing nothing and benefitting no-one. The proportion of extant wealth not circulating through the hands of all those noble workers you mentioned is skyrocketing and it is precisely because rich people have been taking wealth management lessons from Scrooge McDuck. It's not a joke, it really is what they do.

Rich people are hoarding cash, and wealth managers are getting frustrated

Frankly, I won't be seeing any money.  I hope it gets to the people who need it quickly.

Me too.

But imagine how this would be painted if a democrat was in office.  "Clinton handing out money to freeloaders!  Grabbing money out of YOUR WALLET to pay people who couldn't be bothered to save for a rainy day!  That's why the Democratic party is full of leeches and takers, because the government always bails them out with other people's money.  Communism; forced wealth redistribution."

Yes, there are people out there who really need it now, and there are a lot more of them than there usually are.  But they are always out there.  Perhaps keep that in mind when this is all over.

The federal government funds 126 separate programs targeted towards low‐income people, 72 of which provide either cash or in‐kind benefits to individuals. (The rest fund community‐wide programs for low‐income neighborhoods, with no direct benefits to individuals.) State and local governments operate more welfare programs.Of course, no individual or family gets benefits from all 72 programs, but many do get aid from a number of them at any point in time.

We already do.  But if you tell working folks they can't work then you have an obligation to help them.

I am retired and have structured my assets in a way (realize little ordinary income) that means I will probably get the payment. Your post has inspired me to donate the payment to somewhere it is needed.

Or if you are really evil (rich) you could start your own charity like Bill Gates

They buy a second house where, the south of France? What if they already own too many houses?

Buy a car? Like a Bentley or a Rolls? Maybe they already have too many cars.

Rich people don't go on vacation, they are on vacation.

Go out to eat, really?

You aren't talking rich people, you are talking middle class people. Or, like Turtle, maybe you think a couple of million is rich.

Believe the meme as you will but trillion dollar tax cuts corporations use for stock buy backs aren't really trickling down according to plan.

And good ol' Bill Gates, well I seem to recall that when he promised to donate all of his money to charity back when he had $65 Billion. He's over $100 Billion now. Eleemosynary is as eleemosynary does, I reckon.

Nonetheless, he has been trying:

Bill Gates

Last year they donated an estimated $4.78 billion. Overall, though, the Gates have given a total of $45.5 billion through their foundation and other family foundations, dating back to 1994, the Chronicle of Philanthropy notes.

Joe is so filled with hate, that his brain no longer functions.  I am afraid he has a terminal case of liberalitis

O.K., and here I am with a non-functioning brain and a terminal case of liberalitis. So, tell me wizard of the conservative agenda, how are you spending your day's in Corona Virus land? You won't be tossing drogues at someone else's DZ for a while, that's a certainty, and I doubt you have the moxie to put it all together and make a real DZ on your own. Me, well I'm at anchor off of Sint Maarten trying to decide whether Antigua or the USVI's are next up. All paid for with earnings made while believing in and living by liberal values. Funny how that works.

Yes, and the good they do is wonderful. But the scam is to donate stock with untaxed gains into an LLC tax free and then go be a boy scout. Arguably, philanthrocapitalism has certain advantages. But I'd be a lot more impressed if he paid taxes on the gains first. Why? Well I don't think our better interests are served best when rich dudes decide who gets what like in feudal times. Also, I'm thinking that while issues in Africa are important, so are eye operations for kids in Alabama. You know, Alabama in the USA. That, I'm good with. Spending tax free money to do good works that governments should be doing with tax dollars, not so much.

Today I am taking the kids (daughter 11 and son 7) camping.  We will make a primitive shelter with what nature provides, gather firewood, cook dinner and sleep overnight in sub-freezing temperatures. (Libertarians are a hardier stock).  It is good to know you are safe, because it looks like the preferred victims of the Coronavirus are communists, socialists and effete urbanites.

Great idea, that'll teach them to love nature. Personally, I consider it camping when the hotel does not have a club floor lounge. You also be safe. I shudder to think what we'd need to advertise to find your replacement.
