People need stories like this. So the 410,000 others can have a proper perspective. There are 410,000 other stories, lessons.

The end is in sight, come September more freedom but we have to get there, still some painful memories of lives ended.

There are still plenty of a$$holes who refuse to wear masks or keep a distance, because it infringes on their supposed rights.

He had just turned 65 and had a couple of serious comorbidities. We were all so proud of him. In August, he went back to his original AA meeting place to receive and accept his 40 year chip. He was a man of great intestinal fortitude. I spoke with him ten minutes before he went on the ventilator. "Cheese" you need to use that same fortitude you have with Alcohol to get thru this. You can do this. He had a sense that he wasn't going to come out of this and he didn't. Sorry, I ramble.

There’s a hole in the world. Only he could fill it. I’m so sorry.

Well, we've now found out what the "Trump Plan" for getting the vaccine out was.

Nothing. Abso-Fucking-Lutely NOTHING.

Quote

“There is no plan, or was no plan, by the Trump administration in terms of distribution, how to actually talk to the public about these vaccines and educate [people] about why they're so important to their health,” he says.

That’s because, like any “good” managers, they only focused on the top three priorities. Election, image, loyalty

Are we supposed to be surprised?

Given that they said they expected 20 million vaccinations to be done by the end of the year, yes. I would think they would have had some sort of plan in place.

Unless they somehow though those injections would 'just happen, like a miracle'.

But did they find the Trump Healthcare Plan? I've really been wanting to see that!

They're going to release it in 2 weeks.

Merck ends development of two potential COVID-19 vaccines

"Merck is giving up on two potential COVID-19 vaccines following poor results in early-stage studies.

The drugmaker said Monday that it will focus instead on studying two possible treatments for the virus that also have yet to be approved by regulators. The company said its potential vaccines were well tolerated by patients, but they generated an inferior immune system response compared with other vaccines."

Still several others in the pipelines(J&J, etc) besides the Russian and Chinese vaccines.

Canadians they like to peddle themselves as polite, as "world citizens".

A Vancouver casino CEO and his actor wife allegedly chartered a plane to a remote community in Yukon and then misrepresented themselves as local workers in order to get the vaccine.

Swine, they should be forced to emigrate to the US and become GOP supporters. Although it should be noted she is a "Russian Bride".

The wife and I managed to get an appointment for the Moderna vaccine for Feb 3 through a hospital pharmacy about twenty miles from home. (Next Wednesday) Slots were assigned online and filled up so fast that by the time I did the second appt. for myself, everything was filled for five hours in between. (In other words, about 30 slots were filled in the two minutes it took me to make HER appointment first.) This means our appt's are six hours apart on the same day. A couple of minutes later, ALL slots were gone right into March. I'm surprised the server didn't crash.

Still, no one here is complaining. We will do her appointment at 10:20 AM and then go watch a movie until mine comes up at 4:20 PM.

Wait...movie houses are closed. Oh, well. We will just have a long dinner at a local restaurant. Uh...wait. Hold on that too. :/

Jokes aside, we feel lucky enough. Would you believe we just drive around for a few hours? I think they haven't shut that down quite yet. But the funny thing is once you get an appointment, you also get more paranoid that you could get sick at the last minute before your appointment comes. Wife went out and spent fifty bucks on some high end masks.

Wife just told me this: "We can't just drive around, Robert. What if your truck breaks down somewhere? You will miss the appointment..."

Shit. Looks like the car radio and the hospital parking lot for me.

What was the title of your last book, My Life as a Drama Queen?

Two people I know have already died of Covid. And a nice lady I once worked with. Joking about it sometimes can be better than whining.

I've written a few books here and there.  That's just a part time gig. How we actually make a living puts us at risk every day and causes a lot of stress. So joking is a way of dealing with that stress.

Well, you asked... B)

You need a hug? That was a lame attempt at shaming. We are all dealing with shit, man.

Hi Robert,

Re:  Wife just told me this: "We can't just drive around, Robert.

Something tells me that you two can find SOMETHING to do with that time.  ;P

I got vaccinated 2 weeks ago because someone canceled just before the clinic closed and they didn't want to discard the shot, and I happened to be there for another reason.

Apparently the local bureaucrats don't like that.  Now they've issued orders that no-one not on the list can get the shot.  They would prefer it to be discarded.

"People unclear on the concept" comes to mind.

I don't know what the weather is like where you're at of course, but have a nice picnic perhaps? Knowing the size of your average American car you might even be able to picnic inside your vehicle...
